Vehicle Description
This is one sharp antique truck and the unmistakable signs of its
skilled construction are evident everywhere you look - from its
magnetic exterior to its well-appointed interior and even the
undercarriage below. This 1928 Ford Model A Pickup is a great
example of a pivotal vintage car built with exacting care and it
comes complete with a collection of restoration photos that
document the process.
This '28 is only about 3,000 miles past its build and a combination
of craftsmanship and subtle modification have resulted in one fine
looking ride. The body alignment displayed here is so precise
you'll likely notice it right away (everything but the rear fenders
is steel) - the body panels line up impressively well with each
other and the gaps surrounding the doors and deck lid are as even
as any you're likely to find. The bright red shade draped over the
exterior adds a great, high impact look - it's smooth all over and
offers a wet-looking shine. The top of the cabin has been chopped
about 4" and the work was done with such precision that the seams
are virtually undetectable. The lustrous paint really takes center
stage on this build but the brightwork on display is all in its top
form - from the chrome surrounding the jet black front grille on
back to the steel supports gracing the tailgate. Take a look below
while you're back there and you'll see a pair of ultra-sharp,
trumpet shaped chrome exhaust tips.
There's no letdown to the quality when you venture inside. The
charcoal gray interior is very nicely finished, with a fresh
condition throughout that suggests it's seen very little activity.
The bench seat mixes vinyl and cloth to great effect, with inserts
that blend perfectly with those of the door panels to each side.
The color-matched dash features an assortment of Classic Instrument
gauges that combine with a SunPro tach to keep tabs on motoring
functions. A Clarion AM/FM/CD stereo sits at the center to attend
to your audio needs while on the road and the bed area in back is
in very good order, with well-prepped planks lining the floor and a
secured spare tire on hand . . . just in case.
Power for this classic comes via a circa '88 L98 engine that's
really running great - outfitted with a 4-barrel carb under a dual
chrome air cleaner, it vocalizes a great note into its shorty
headers leading into the dual exhaust and just a tap on the
accelerator will confirm the notion that there'll be plenty of
power at your disposal. The 3-speed automatic TH350 transmission it
pairs with shifts with precision and has been outfitted with a
cooler to up its dependability in more demanding conditions. An HEI
ignition has also been added to maximize spark, while the radiator
up front features an electric fan to keep engine temperatures in
check. With a coilover suspension in back and good alignment up
front, this Model A tracks nice and straight and the front disc
brakes help bring its Boyd Coddington wheels - 14" in front and 15"
in back - to dependable stops. The view from below is downright
impressive - the undercarriage is about as clean as any you'll
find.
