Vehicle Description
This 1955 Cameo pickup has undergone a recent frame-off,
factory-correct restoration with 700 miles since its completion. In
1955, the Cameo was available in one color combination only, Bombay
Ivory and Commercial Red trim, as this example is presented. The
Cameo's fiberglass bed sides and tailgate are an offshoot of
Corvette design. This truck features a Thriftmaster engine,
optional heater, visor and hood ornament. Its original 235ci
inline-6 engine was rebuilt during the restoration process and is
mated to a 3-speed manual transmission. Many mechanical items on
this truck were original and have been restored, including the
carburetor, distributor, transmission, differential, master brake
cylinder and radiator, which was recored. It has an original-style
wiring harness, the wheel cylinders and the stainless-steel trim
were replaced, and the original chrome pieces were rechromed. The
bed was replaced with original-style yellow pine boards, along with
restored and repainted steel strips. It also maintains its original
deluxe heater and restored original AM radio.
