Building upon the new-generation upscale Mercedes-Benz models launched for 1965, the V-8 powered 280 SE 3.5 debuted in late 1969. Just 4,502 of these masterpieces were built, mostly by hand, including 1,232 cabriolets.
This 3.5 Cabriolet comes from a large Mercedes collection in Georgia where it has been sympathetically serviced, maintained and restored when and where needed. All body lines are excellent and this 3.5 Cab shows no signs of any accidents or damage. It is exactly as one would expect of a proper and well maintained 280 in all areas, structurally, cosmetically and mechanically. It runs and drives very well with a gorgeous well cared for fresh interior.
A well-presented Mercedes Benz icon, this 3.5 Cabriolet has recently undergone an extensive full service by Autosport Designs including all fluids, plugs, new tires, alignment, A/C recharge, new wheel caps and freshly treated dashboard wood. This example has a very solid shell and drives accordingly with a smooth ride, smooth shifts and a quiet motor. As one of Mercedes Benz’s final hand-built models, this 3.5 Cabriolet is ready for immediate show and touring use.
