THE FRESH 66' 396 IS BORED 30 OVER WITH SOLID LIFTERS AND ROLLER
ROCKERS, MID RANGE RACE CAM, HI RISE ALUM INTAKE, 4 BBL 750 SUMIT
RACING CARB BY HOLLEY AND ALUMINUM HEADERS. SOUNDS GREAT THREW THE
NEW 2 1/2 INCH DUAL EXHAUST WITH CHAMBERED MUFFS. THE TURBO 350
TRANY IS REBUILT SHIFTS NICE AND THE 12 BOLT REAR WAS CHECKED GOOD
AND NEW SEALS ADDED. IT ALL RUNS COOL AT 180 DEGREE THRU THE 3 CORE
ALUM RADIATOR. BODY: WE BOUGHT THIS ONE NEEDING FINISHING TOUCHES
LIKE RIMS AND TIRES, INTERIOR, SOME ELECTRIC WORK AND TRIM PIECES.
THEY HAD REALLY DONE A NICE STRAIGHT BODY AND EVEN PAINTED THE
UNDERSIDE BODY COLOR. THEY STARTED A FEW YEARS AGO AND PAST IT TO 2
OTHER GUYS BEFORE WE FINISHED YET IT HAS BEEN WELL KEPT PAINT IS
SLICK WITH ONLY A HAD FULL OF BLEMISHES FROM DEEP FISH EYES. OTHER
THAN THAT I WOULD GIVE A 9 OUT OF 10. SHE LINES UP AS GOOD AS I
HAVE SEEN ON A 67 CHEVELLE. THEY BLASTED THE BODY, PUT QUARTER SKIN
ON, NEW FENDERS, NEW INNERS, NEW STEEL HOOD, AND NEW TRUNK PAN IS
WHAT I CAN TELL FORE SURE. NOTE: ONE THING ABOUT PAINT IS THE HOOD
AND TRUNK HAVE GHOST STRIPES WITH FLAMES IN THEM. THEY ARE HARD TO
SEE IN PICS AND IN PERSON BUT LOOK AT LAST OF THE 93 PHOTOS I

THERE NOW. A COUPLE THINGS TO POINT OUT. THE FRAME HAD BEEN PATCHED
IN FOUR CORNERS WHERE ENDS OF ROCKERS ARE. THESE ARE WEAK POINTS
FROM NEW AND NOW STRENGTHENED WITH 1/4 INCH STEEL. I SEE A COUPLE
SPOTS WHERE THEY REINFORCED 6 TO 8 INCH AREA ON OUTSIDE OF FRAME
AND THERE IS A 2 INCH AREA WHERE FRAME HAS SWISS CHEESE ON
BACKSIDE. THEY ARE FINE NOW AND STRONGER THAN NEW. I FEEL I NEED TO
MENTION HERE. ALSO, EVERY THING WORKS EXCEPT HORN AND RADIO. SPEEDO
WORKS BUT BOUNCES. THE REAR CONTROL ARMS HAVE BEEN REPLACED WITH 4
RACING ADJUSTABLE CHROME MOLLY CONTROL ARMS WHICH ARM NICE IF YOU
DO RACE ALOT OR LITTLE AND FINE IF YOU DON'T. THE WINDSHIELD TRIM
HAS AFEW DINGS WHICH IS WORSE THING ABOUT THE CAR. BASICALLY
EVERYTHING IS NEW ON THE CAR FROM BODY TO MECHANICALS AND INTERIOR.
IT ALL LOOKS GREAT AND AN EYE CATCHER. CODES: 138 IN VIN AND ON
COWL TAG MEANS SS CHEVELLE. PAINT CODE R IS RED. ITS PAINTED GARNET
RED. 763B TRIM IS BLACK AND B FOR BUCKET SEATS. ACC. CODES SHOW Z
FOR TURBO 400, G FOR CONSOLE, S FOR REAR ANTENNA, R FOR REAR
SPEAKER, BLOCK CASTING 3855961 IS 396 OR 427 BLOCK. BLOCK STAMP IV
IS 396/325HP ENGINE STAMP DATE IS 02/14. I CANT SEE THE DATE ON
BACK OF BLOCK BUT THE PARTIAL VIN SHOWS A 6 IN DATE SPOT SO ITS A
1966 BLOCK. HEAD CASTING IS 3917215 IS 396 OR 427 W/2.06 AND 172
VALVES. HEADS DATED G98 AND THATS JULY 9, 1968. NO STAMPED NUMBERS
FOUND ON REAR END CASE.
