Vehicle Description
1972 Ford Mustang Convertible
Throughout the years, the Mustang has truly been everything to
everyone. It's spanned several pricing levels, performance levels -
it even shared DNA with the Ford Pinto during the mid-to-late 70s.
Through it all, the car remained successful and nearly every early
variation has found its place in the collector market. Right now,
it's all about the pre-1971 cars, but the tide is rising for
examples like this awesome 1972 Mustang Convertible. With
aggressive styling, an original 351cid V8 and nearly every option
on the order form.
Spending the first 20+ years of its life in Texas, this no rust
example came to the northeast, where it has been enjoyed and
garaged since by its second owner, and the consigner of this
awesome legendary car.
Exterior
Originally Gold Glow Poly, this car has now changed to 1972 2B Red.
All panels appear to be straight, and paint in good condition. With
its wide stance, rounded off nose, single headlights, wrap around
trim, beautiful bumper, and iconic prancing horse on the grille,
they will definitely see you coming...in style. Dual hood scoops
take the hood to a clear windscreen surrounded by polished aluminum
trim. The power convertible top, with rear glass window presents in
good condition, and all exterior lighting is working. The wheels on
the car are factory Magnum 500's (no aftermarket) and are stamped
with part numbers. An early 90's Mustang removable mast antenna is
attached, but the original has been retained and will be included
with the sale of the car.
Interior
Black knit vinyl high back bucket seats in front, and a bench seat
in back provide comfortable seating for 4. Door panels are very
nice black vinyl with a wood veneer accent streaking above the
armrest. Power window toggles are seen on each door. An angled dash
in black as well, shows all the right things in all the right
places as to the original configuration. The automatic shifter sits
atop the hump between the buckets in its own small plastic enclosed
island. The factory A/C is not functioning; however, all the parts
are to be included with the sale of this car.
Drivetrain
As per the Marti report provided by the consigner, a 351ci Cobra
Jet mill is installed, and it has the 4 Vent head configuration.
Currently an Edelbrock1405 4V Carburetor feeds the engine, however
the original Spreadbore Quadra-jet comes with this car. It
currently needs rebuilding.
Undercarriage
Excepting some surface rust, this car is very solid underneath. A
competition suspension is an added option, as are power brakes, and
power steering. A 3.25 Traction Look Rear axle is also an installed
factory option.
A very nice, rare optioned, 72 Mustang that is mechanically sound,
original interior, resprayed exterior with nearly perfect 2B red. A
few minor issues however all replaced original parts will come with
the sale of this car. If hitting the highway in one of Detroit's
final muscle cars sounds good to you, take a closer look at this
killer '72 Mustang.
