Vehicle Description
The Mustang needs no introduction but some might not know that the
Mustang went from idea to production in a record eighteen months.
The design team was given five goals. It must have room for four,
have front bucket seats with floor mounted shifter, weigh no more
than 2500 pounds, weigh less than 180" in length and sell for no
more than $2500 with power, comfort and luxury options. It also had
to appeal to not only men but women. From 1964 to 1966 this would
be known as the early first generation of Mustangs. Only a few
engine options and bodies would be offered, a 2 door hardtop,
convertible and Fast back variant.
The Fastback that we are exceptionally proud to represent comes out
of long term ownership. The previous owners father had the car
before him and had the car nut and bolt body off restored before
his passing when his son took over the car in 2003 where he only
put about 500 miles on the car since that time. He sold the car to
my consignor who went through the car mechanically with fluids,
brakes, belts etc... making sure the car was road worthy. We have
both been over this car from top to bottom finding it one of the
nicest restored Mustangs ever to grace us with its presence. This
is an original red on red car with matching numbers. It is a the
desirable 289 cubic inch car with excellent sound and drivability.
The underside of this car is incredible as is the paint and
interior. Everything works flawlessly and is a true must see. There
is not a lot of documentation on the car but it speaks for
itself.
