Up for sale is this rare package of two Dick Guldstrand Corvettes, his first 1988 Corvette Prototype GS 80, and his last Corvette, the 1967 327 Corvette.
There are few names as closely linked to the history of Corvette racing as Dick Guldstrand. Throughout the 1960s, he went from dirt-track racer to one of the most dominant race car drivers in the country. After his racing career he turned to tuning and building cars, and making corvettes that win races was his thing. With the GS 80 as his first attempt, he turned the C4 into an SCCA monster. He is known for the wicked machines that helped Corvette gain international notoriety as top-tier performance machines.
The 1988 Corvette Prototype GS 80 by Dick Guldstrand Motorsports has a 372 CI small block built by Traco Race Engines and is backed by a manual transmission. 375 HP. Car is fully loaded from the factory with one-off suspension by Dick Guldstrand. Rear wheel opening have been flared to accommodate the larger tires. The GS cars were built by Guldstrand Engineering to take on the ZR1 Corvettes from GM and would prove to be a low cost race car for the street. The car was tested at Talladega in a closed course at 180 mph.
The second part of the historic package is Dick Guldstrands last owned Corvette, his 1967 Corvette Coupe. This is an all original California car with less than 50,000 original miles. Original red with white interior, 327 small block with automatic transmission, and power brakes. Adorned with his personalized “G Dick” license plate. The story is that people would always ask “Gee Dick, what do you think about this set up” or “Gee Dick, what do you think about this combination” so quite appropriate that he “named” his last baby “G Dick”.
