Vehicle Description
Known as the "SN65 Mustang," this professionally custom-crafted
1965 Mustang is represented the integration of two different
Mustang unibody cars separated by 40 years of production. It is not
a 65 body on an 03 chassis, nor a 65 body kit grafted onto a
late-model Mustang. Both structures were sectioned apart into
thousands of pieces and then reassembled into a totally new unibody
design with hundreds of custom-fabricated panels designed to mimic
those produced by Ford. Hidden inside the new structure is a
tubular space frame that runs through the rockers, cowl, firewall,
front and rear suspensions, the A- and B-pillars, etc., resulting
in a stable, low center of gravity design that gives the car great
feel on a road course. The mechanical systems have all been
updated. The 4.6-liter all-aluminum mod engine is equipped with a
Whipple twin-screw blower set at 17 pounds of boost generating
625rwhp. The modified Tremec 6-speed manual transmission and
Terminator IRS have been upgraded to handle the additional
horsepower, and the entire suspension was updated with Maximum
Motorsport Track Duty components; all designed to keep the
Budnik/Forgeline tire and wheel combo firmly planted on the ground.
All of the exterior body panels have been upgraded with
custom-fabricated F1-style carbon-fiber, Kevlar and honeycomb
composite pieces. The car has performed on Road America, Road
Atlanta, the Autobahn and Putnam racetracks, to name a few. It has
been driven by Boris Said, Scott Pruitt and Tom Bagley as well as
other vintage circuit drivers. Speeds in excess of 165 mph on Road
America and Autobahn lap times of 72 seconds are just a few of the
track highlights. It is a frequent winner on the show circuit.
Highlights include Outstanding Engineered at the Detroit Autorama,
First in Category and Best of Show at Ford Nationals, top awards at
Year One, Goodguys, World of Wheels and many others. It's also been
featured in several magazines and on three episodes of V8TV.
