Vehicle Description
The first of the 26 total Shelby Racing Co. Mustang Group II FIA-GT
SCCA Trans Am race cars. This Shelby was purchased by George
Kirksley, and tested by Jerry Titus and Chuck Cantwell prior to its
delivery at the Sebring Trans-Am race in 1967. It was driven by
Freddie Van Beuren Jr. and Donald Sesslar during that race. It was
also driven by Alan Moffat at the SCCA National Race at Watkins
Glen in 1967. It was driven by Van Beuren in 8 of the 12 Trans-Am
races in 1967 and 24 combined races with 17 First Place finishes.
With full documentation, this Shelby race car was restored to
exacting period authenticity, and has since won the coveted Shelby
American Automotive Club Division 1 Concours Gold Award at SAAC 34
in 2009. It's powered by a 305ci 8-cylinder engine with dual
4-barrel carburetors mated to a 4-speed manual transmission and a
Ford 9" rear end. It is correct throughout and is signed by Chuck
Cantwell, Bernie Kretchmar and Carroll Shelby. FIA papers, a Marti
Report and SVRA medallion are included.
