Vehicle Description
With a build date of April 15, 1965, this car was known as "N
Harm's Way" and is #46 of the documented A990 Dodge HEMI Coronets
built. Purchased from Si Gary Dodge in Lorain, OH, and raced by
Harmon Friend, it set an AHRA world record at Norwalk, OH, on
August 24, 1969, but its most recent accolade would be the work
completed by Muscle Car Restorations of Chippewa Falls, WI, which
executed the restoration. Originally, Chrysler engineers creatively
lightened these cars with a combination of thin-gauge steel body
panels (doors, hood and fenders), lighter HEMI engine components
like alloy heads and a magnesium Cross-Ram intake, as well as
weight-distribution adaptations, including a mild wheelbase
reworking; all of these changes are still represented on this car.
This car features the correct lightweight Corning glass, the radio,
heater, defrost, visors and rear-seat delete, trunk-mounted
battery, and proper lightweight Bostrom seats in the clean tan
interior. Behind the 426ci HEMI engine is a TorqueFlite automatic
transmission with manual reverse pattern and park delete on the
column, with OEM steel wheels transferring power via a 4.56:1
Sure-Grip rear end. The correct DD1 blue metallic exterior paint is
relettered for racing, featuring the hood scoop that was standard
on this model.
