Vehicle Description
A sought after Vintage Mustang, coming from the introductory year
of the famed Pony car. The "K" in the VIN designates "Factory High
Performance" model, which accounts for less than 1% of the Mustang
production from 1965 to 1967. A true GT, and a true K-code factory
high-performance model, this 1965 Mustang was the recipient of a
full, correct restoration and an AACA National First Place award
documenting the quality. It's powered by a K-code 289/271hp engine
mated to a Toploader 4-speed manual transmission and a 9" rear end
with 3:50 gears. It is finished in its original Caspian Blue
exterior with a light blue and white two-tone interior. While the
options list was limited on the K-code cars, this example does have
the two-tone Decor Deluxe Pony interior, GT package and
styled-steel wheels. It also has the correct
steering-column-mounted Rally Pak with the 8,000 rpm tachometer.
The interior options include deluxe door panels, door-mounted
courtesy lights, full-length console, deluxe instrumentation,
wood-grain treatment, 3-spoke walnut steering wheel and
carpet-trimmed kick pads. The GT package features side stripes,
unique GT badging, grille-mounted fog lamps, dual exhaust trumpets,
heavy-duty anti-sway bar and front disc brakes. This K-Pony came to
Jerry's Classic Mustangs in Alabama in May 2013, and has been in
his care and custody ever since. It comes with a 3-ring binder that
contains awards, judging sheet and history, and photos on a CD.
