The High Country Special was a limited-edition Mustang built by
Ford aimed at capitalizing on Mustang's popularity. It was offered
from 1966 through 1968 and sold exclusively by Ford dealers in the
Rocky Mountain area. This laser-straight, rust-free 1968 Mustang
High Country Special is one of 251 models produced and is a
recipient of the MCA Concours Trailered Gold Award. It also comes
with judging sheets. It is powered by a 289ci 8-cylinder engine
mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission. It has 53,953 original
miles (mileage not indicated on the registration), and had a full,
extensive, professional restoration. It's finished in black and red
with side stripes and wears standard, black-painted stock wheels
with stainless-steel dog-dish hubcaps and optional 14" white
sidewall tires. This hardtop features a front grille with Lucas
driving lights, a heavy-duty battery, power steering, louvered hood
with turn signal indicators, twist-down hood latches, AM radio,
fiberglass decklid with integrated spoiler and matching quarter
extensions, fiberglass rear body panel with Shelby-style turn
signals, pop-open gas filler cap and body-side quarter scoops with
"High Country Special" decal. It comes with copies of ownership
history, booklets and manuals, previous registrations, Ford Motor
Company research letter, Marti Report and several professional
photos in a hardback book.
