Vehicle Description
This 1968 Z/28 Rally Sport is presented in factory Matador Red over
a red deluxe interior and a parchment vinyl roof. The car is
documented with its original body Broadcast Sheet and is certified
by noted Camaro specialist Jerry MacNeish. It features a 4:56
posi-traction rear end, power steering, tilt steering, tinted
glass, deluxe seat belts, a center console, rear speaker and D80
spoiler equipment. The sheet metal is original with its factory
quarter-stampings visible at the top of the inside of the trunk.
This car was raced for its first 10 years and then restored later.
It has 62,000 original miles (title reads mileage exempt). Also
noted is its factory original 6000-rpm red line tachometer, only
used in Z/28s and 375hp L78 cars. It even has its original factory
tire inflation sticker noting the use of the 15" tire on the inside
of the glove box door. A completely restored original
date-code-correct air-injector reactor was installed. It has the
original VIN stamping in the cowl area and Muncie speedometer hole
in the firewall. The original brake booster, dated 102, April 11,
has been rebuilt and replated. It also has the OD radiator in the
trunk dated C1968, the correct backup lamp plug in the trunk area
and also the firewall authenticating it as a factory Rally Sport.
It also has the original BW-coded 12-bolt posi-traction rear end
intact with a casting date of C288 and an assembly code of 0425
with the factory VIN stamped below it. The original engine was
replaced with a 1969 302ci 10 CE 4-bolt main factory replacement
block with a casting date of D189, less than a year after the car
was assembled. It runs and drives well with an M21 4-speed manual
transmission. It also has bumper guards and the wire wheel hubcaps,
rounding out a host of popular items in this vehicle. A select
offering from The Bryan Frank Collection.
