Pay attention to this one as it’s a fantastic deal. This 1988 Thunderbird LX is equipped with a factory 5.0L V8 engine (this is basically a Mustang GT drivetrain). It is a 2-owner car sold new in California and has lived a pampered life. It was very well maintained and includes loads of receipts dating to 1990. Quite a find in this price range!
This Thunderbird is in amazing condition, far beyond what you’d expect for 30 years and 70k miles. Its original gold paint looks gorgeous and is such a classy look on this design. The factory black side moldings give some nice contrast and integrate nicely into the bumpers. The original aluminum wheels are present as well.
The motor is one of Ford’s best, that being the venerable 5.0L. This fuel injected V8 with its roller cam is best known for putting the Mustang GT back on the map. It gives this Thunderbird a big boost over the base V6 setup along with more reliability than the turbo 4-cylinder option. The transmission is a 4-speed automatic overdrive unit followed by a durable 8.8” rear end. The ride is wonderful; this is a car you can drive all day and still be comfortable.
The gold interior is truly remarkable. The seats and dash were both kept covered for years which helps explain their immaculate condition. The LX accoutrements make for a very sharp look as well. The digital dashboard is fully functional as is the automatic climate control with cold air conditioning. There are a host of nice features including dual power seats, tilt steering column, power windows, power locks, graphic equalizer, cruise control, and more.
This one really is a bargain. You are getting a classy 5.0L Thunderbird LX in remarkable condition for about the same price as a used Hyundai. Which would you rather drive?
