After 30 months of development, the Ferrari 550 Maranello was
unveiled in July 1996 at the Nrburgring racing circuit in Germany.
The model's name referred to the 5.5-litres total engine
displacement in Deci liters and to the town of Maranello, home to
the Ferrari headquarters and factory. Pininfarina executed both the
exterior and interior design.
Like the Ferrari Daytona, this was a car that was not only at the
cutting edge of performance, but also comfortable and practical
enough to be used daily. Powered by an all-new 5.5-liter V12 engine
with an output of 485 hp, the 550 Maranello could sprint from 0-100
km/h in 4.4 seconds, leading to a top speed of 320 km/h. With a
classic 6 Speed Manual transmission makes the 550 Maranello one of
the most rewarding drives Ferrari has ever created. With a spacious
boot and a parcel shelf behind the seats, this world beating
performance car could easily be used for trips to the shops or on a
weeklong jaunt across the continent. The interior is downright
spacious, and the trunk is large enough to accommodate golf bags.
In total 3,083 units of the 550 Maranello were produced.
This particular Maranello is factory finished in Nero (black) over
Nero leather. Sold new to Texas in 1999 and remained there until
2009 before it was sold to Colorado. In 2016 a Ferrari enthusiast
from Florida bought the car and where it is still now. Current
mileage is app. 43,000 miles.
The paint is in very nice condition with great gloss throughout and
no- notable marks or dings. The wheels are in excellent condition
and feature red brake calipers were replaced. Cosmetic issues were
addressed. A new AC compressor was installed. The interior of the
car is in particularly nice condition. The leather is supple and
smooth with excellent surfacing and no marks of note. Dashboard and
"Sticky Switches" professional restored. The trunk area remains
fresh and consistent with the rest of the interior. Clearly the
current owner has maintained this Maranello with proper care and
enthusiastic consideration. Clean Carfax available.
Presented in great condition, Ferrari factory books and accessories
(leather tool-case, tire fix-a-flat air kit, red factory cover)
remain with the car, this 550 Maranello is a perfect addition to
anyone's garage or collection.
