Vehicle Description
Get ready for spring, or maybe even grab a scarf and hat and turn
the heat up for a top down fun run on a sunny winter day. This car
just looks like good times waiting to happen! People smile when
they see it rolling down the road, and you will be smiling when you
drive it. Check it out.
The Firebird convertibles seem to get better looking with age.
Maybe its because you don't see as many of them on the road as some
of the other muscle cars, so when you do, it's something of a
special treat. Another treat on this particular car is that bright
Yellow paint. It really makes a statement and of-course, yellow
always looks good dressed up in some chrome. Fortunately, the
unique front end of the Firebird is the perfect place to hang some
of that chrome. It surrounds the grill with its dual headlights on
each side and a deep chin spoiler underneath it. Above it, the hood
proudly announces that 400 cubic inches of muscle powers this car
and has dual scoops as well as a hood mounted tach. A set of
louvres graces the bulging rear fenders and the rear end wraps up
the look nicely with a trunk spoiler above the thin horizontal
taillights, a Firebird emblem between them, and another sharp
looking chrome bumper.
Open the door, or just peek inside if the power operated
convertible top is down, and you will find a simple Black interior.
The door panel has a long armrest that is comfortable for those
long cruises through the mountains or down to the coast and has a
nice Firebird emblem on the front edge. A wooden steering wheel on
a chrome three-spoke hub with an arrowhead center button is mounted
on a tilt column. Behind it is a stock dashboard with a 160 MPH
speedometer on the left and the tachometer clearly visible in the
driver's line of sight on the hood. Wood grain trims out the center
panel that contains the ventilation controls which include those
for the updated R134 air conditioning system as well as an upgraded
stereo that is an FM/CD and iPod compatible unit. The shifter for
the automatic transmission rises from the center console and the
seats have been recovered in textured black vinyl.
Pop the hood open and you will find that 400 cubic inch motor
nestled down in a neat and clean engine bay. A chrome air topper
has a 400-4 decal on it and it sits on an Edelbrock carburetor and
aluminum intake manifold. Chrome valve covers add their splash of
flash while an HEI ignition system handles the spark. Signs of good
maintenance include a newer A/C compressor and a fresh coat of
Pontiac Blue engine paint suggest that the motor has been rebuilt
as some point. Power flows back through a 3-speed automatic
transmission to the rear wheels mounted on leaf springs. Up front,
control arms and coil springs get the job done while newer shocks
and bushings as well as sway bars both front and rear help this car
corner flat and handle well. The power front disc brakes received
new backing plates when they were serviced up and provide great
stopping power. The rubber meets the road through 215/60R15 tires
in the front and 245/60R15s in the rear, all mounted on those
awesome looking Torque Thrust wheels.
Come on down and check out this bright yellow convertible. There
are good time waiting to happen in this car, but it needs a driver
to take it there. Would that be you?
