The Ultimate Gentleman's Grand Tourer Front Engine V12

At the time of its introduction, the 365 GT 2+2 represented significant advances for Ferrari, particularly their 2+2 models. The combination of independent suspension all around for the first time on a 2+2 model and the new torque tube arrangement made the cars quieter, more comfortable, and more capable than ever before. The inclusion of additional convenience and luxury features further enhanced the car's comfort, with standardized power steering and air conditioning. The familiar front-mounted 4.4 liter V12 and attractive Pininfarina styling ensured that the car retained all of the traditional positive Ferrari traits, ensuring an authentic vintage Ferrari experience and an excellent value compared to other front-engined V12 Ferraris from the same period. In all, just 800 examples were built, making these cars quite rare as well.

13065 was completed in December 1969 and delivered new to William F. Harrah's Modern Classic Motors of Reno, Nevada in January 1970, as a LHD U.S. model with instruments in miles, chromed front grill guard and two headrests, finished in Azzurro Hyperion (blue metallic) over Nero Connolly leather. According to the accompanying Marcel Massini Report, in January 1979 13065 was listed in the Ferrari Owners Club Newsletter (USA) under Overton A. "Bunny" Phillips, in Pasadena, California. A period photograph of Bunny and the car are on file. The Queen Mother would remain with Phillips' long-term care until 1999 with OAP 2 California "Blue Plates". Bunny Phillips was an avid Bugatti racer, collector, restorer and the first president of the American Bugatti Club. He raced at Indianapolis, The Vanderbilt Cup and several other notable period events in Bugattis. While later owning Phillips Aviation, O.A. is also known as one of the most respected Bugatti restorers to date. Prior to his passing in 1999, the 365 would receive a repaint in the most appropriate "Bugatti Blue", in which it retains today.

With 62,700 recorded miles, 13065 comes to us from a notable Mexican collection and presents nicely with a solid, typical California body and undercarriage, displaying good gaps and honest bones. The PininFarina body number "092" if found stamped on the hood, trunk boot, and trunk floor. The paint is glossy, with subtle indications of use as intended. Correct 15x7.5" Borrani wire wheels compliment with new 215/70VR15 Pirelli CN12 tires and Michelin tubes. The cabin has been equally well kept and maintained as needed, although appearing almost entirely original and preserved in form. The supple captain's chair leather and deep blue carpeting were likely replaced around the time of paint. Cold air conditioning and power windows are among the cabin features most revered with the Queen Mother.

The engine compartment is clean and well-detailed. Its appearance is generally correct with proper finishes, decals and airbox keepers. The incredibly lively and numbers-matching engine performs exceptionally well and sounds amazing, thanks to a recent scheduled service and its tailored ANSA" exhaust system. Its mechanical freshening included new fluids and filters, battery, rebuild/recore of the original radiator, top end adjustment, ignition consumables, new Koni rear coilover kit and Pirelli Cinturato tires. Drivability is dialed for both sprints and distance touring.

The neatly trimmed luggage compartment is fitted with a matching spare Borrani wire wheel, with visible factory number stamping on the floor. A refined grand tourer for any occasion, 13065 offers an abundance of classic Ferrari V12 rewards of similar Colombo engined counterparts, along with an arguably more comfortable setting. Now available for immediate worldwide purchase from our Houston, Texas showroom - be sure ask about collector financing and international shipping options.
