1966 was the start of the final and perhaps most popular generation
of the Buick Wildcat. Originally a subseries of the Buick Invicta,
the Wildcat broke free from the Invicta line and became its own
model in 1963. This 1966 Buick Wildcat is a gorgeous car with all
the right lines. Packing the original drivetrain, killer white on
black combo and a price tag that won't break the bank, this Buick
is a great candidate for a daily driver.
This is the type of vehicle GM convertible enthusiasts will swoon
over! The body is clean and fairly straight with minor dings,
scratches, and chips showing. There is no major body damage, and if
this paint is not original, it is an older repaint. It is nice
enough to turn heads, but not so nice that you forget to enjoy
driving it for fear of damage! The body does have a few small
bubbles at the bottom of the fenders, but nothing out of the
ordinary for a car this age.
The interior is extremely nice and complete and if it is not
original it is very original-looking. However, there are two areas
to be aware of inside the car: the carpet is faded in some places
and the rear seat bottoms have tears in them. No other damage is
present on any seats or panels. With new material on the backseat
bottoms, and re-dying the carpet, the inside of this Buick would
look almost new! Hidden in the glovebox is a more modern Pioneer
radio for your cruising pleasure. Last but not least, the air
conditioning blows ice cold!
Under the hood is the numbers-matching original Buick 401 Nailhead
V8 hooked up to the original transmission. These 401s were Torque
monsters. As such, this 401 left the factory with 340hp, but
created an astonishing 445lbs of torque. Underneath the car is new
exhaust with glasspack-style mufflers. This Buick appears to be a
mostly original survivor car with a few tweaks such as aftermarket
wheels and the new exhaust. The original wheel covers are included
with the sale, but the original steel wheels are not available. All
in all, this Buick would be an excellent and very affordable choice
for a cruiser. It's a lot of car for the money!
