Fully restored from 2017-2018. The owner, a retired business owner from the Maryland, purchased his first 450 SLC in 1973.
It was his first Mercedes and top of the line. At that time, the car cost $18K. He traded it in for a new one in 1976 and the cost had gone up to $25K. In 1980 he sold his business, home, cars and property and retired to Florida. Reading in the January issue of Hemmings Motor news on a 1979 450 SLC, he contacted the owner, got pictures and receipts of all the work done on the car. He then purchased the car and it arrived in February. He then sent it to a local shop in Delray Beach, FL for a complete restoration. The car was finished in October, however, by then, he had developed macular degeneration and could no longer drive, which necessitated the sale of this car. It is in great condition and drives well. Car is located in Delray Beach, Florida. It is believed to be a low mileage car due to the wear on the break pedal and low cost of restoration which was 6K.
