the bone in its shiny black paint, this Z28 backs up that look with
a combination of performance enhancements designed into the car by
the factory, as well as some nice additional engine upgrades for a
bit of extra power. This is one good looking car for someone
serious about driving. Check it out.
Long and low describe the overall look of these second-generation
Camaros. This '80 model is among the last of them produced before a
redesign, and as a Z28, it incorporates all the refinements that
were developed along the way that helped it earn its justified
reputation as a driver's car. Features like a functional Air
Induction hood that feeds cold air to the engine, side vents in the
front fenders to let hot air out, and aerodynamic elements like a
deep chin spoiler and full width rear spoiler to add stability at
speed. The black grill that splits above and below the bumper looks
extra sweet on this black car and has a Z28 badge set off on one
side of it. Gray triple stripes start up front on that chin spoiler
curving up as they wrap around to the front fender and continue low
on the car down the side, ending in another Z28 on the door.
Open the door and you will find a neat and clean black interior
that has obviously been well cared for. The door panel itself
accentuates the long low look of the car with long simple lines
accented by a chrome strip across the top and a comfortable
armrest. Have a seat in the high-backed buckets that have pleated
centers and side bolster supports that are nice for spirited
driving. Then reach out for the 4-spoke Z28 steering wheel which is
adjustable by both tilting and telescoping so you can get it set
just right for maintaining control as you stir around that white
short throw shifter for the 4-speed manual transmission. Factory
gauges are supplemented with Autometer gauges for oil pressure and
water temp and there is a JVC head unit that is an AM/FM/CD player
and is iPod compatible. Nice clean carpets tie the look together
well and are protected by Z28 floor mats in the front.
Pop the hood and you will find a nicely warmed-over engine nestled
down in a neat and clean engine bay. There is a polished air topper
that feeds fresh air from that hood scoop to a Holley 4-barrel
carburetor and an Edelbrock intake manifold with Aeroquip lines
getting the fuel to the carb. Chrome Moroso valve covers look great
and MSD ignition assures good spark while long tube headers get the
spent gasses out and sound good while doing it. Power is sent back
to the 4-speed manual transmission controlled by that short throw
shifter and then to the 10-bolt rear end which gets the power to
the ground through 275/60R15 tires mounted on black 5-spoke wheels.
255/60R15s handle the duties up front with sway bars both front and
rear keep the car cornering flat.
This car is set up right and fun to drive. Come on down and check
it out.
