Vehicle Description
While the financial world was melting down in 2008, The new LS3
Corvettes were providing much needed therapy for those lucky enough
to buy one. It's still a great car for relieving tension and having
some fun, or just for cruising around with the top down. And who
doesn't need a car like that sometimes?
Gorgeous in its bright Yellow paint and big chrome wheels, this car
definitely attracts attention when you roll through town in it. For
the first time since the redesign in 1963 when the new Corvettes
got hideaway headlights, these 6th generation cars have gone back
to fixed headlights. Regulations may have played a role, but rumor
has it that the Corvette race teams also encouraged Chevy to make
the change. While there is certainly a nostalgia about the
hideaways, these new ones are more aerodynamic, blending smoothly
from the bumper which houses auxiliary fog lights, up onto the
fenders. The attention to aero continues with vents out the side of
the front fenders and bumps behind the seats that decreases the
wind buffeting of the passengers while the roof is down. The back
of the car resolves cleanly with a smooth look and a rear diffuser
reduces lift while quad chrome tailpipes peek out from
underneath.
Open the door and you will be welcomed into a thoroughly modern
cockpit with comfort and convenience features to make traveling in
the car a pleasure. The Tan is a wonderful compliment to the Yellow
with the top of the door panel as well as the upper dash trimmed in
Black. The high back bucket seats are trimmed in leather, heated,
and power adjustable for your comfort. The leather wrapped steering
wheel feels good in your hands and has paddles for manually
shifting the 6-speed automatic transmission if you wish, as well as
the stereo controls for the FM/CD and iPod compatible sound system,
all right at your fingertips. The backlit gauges in the dash are
clearly visible and easy to read, but this car also has the
optional heads-up display so you can keep your eyes on the road if
you prefer. Of course, there is cruise control and climate control
and a nice center console to rest your arm on too.
Under the hood you will find that LS3 engine that became available
on these 2008 models. It was another logical step up in the
progression of engine development for these flagship Chevys with
displacement increased a bit to 6.2 liters and a host of other
improvements that generated more horsepower and torque. 430 hp and
424 foot-pounds of torque to be specific. The black composite
intake manifold is visible between the engine covers that announce
the motor as a Corvette LS3 in red. Fresh air is drawn in from the
nose of the car through a free flow air filter and fed directly
into the throttle body. The factory exhaust manifolds contribute
significantly to the power figures and the dual exhaust winds its
way neatly back to those chrome exhaust tips. Of course, there are
massive anti-lock disc brakes to haul this car back down from speed
and a fully independent suspension that puts the power on the
ground through 285/35ZR19 tires in the back and 245/18s in the
front mounted on those sharp looking chrome wheels.
Top down fun in a good-looking car. Is there any better form of
therapy than that? Schedule your appointment with one of our
