Vehicle Description
1928 Ford Model A Roadster Pickup
The Ford Motor Company, with its F-series, has long held the
distinction of building the best-selling trucks in America. That
distinction dates back many decades, as Ford's commercial Model A
and AA variants were also the most popular in their day. The
best-selling Ford truck of 1928 was the Model A Pick-up, which
brought passenger-car style by using the Roadster style chassis and
bolting on a rear bed.
This simple yet elegant Roadster Pickup is a really beautifully
restored example. Correct color combination, done with quality, a
new top, and totally renewed bed, you can roll around town with
your moniker, get some attention, all the while getting things
done. Wasn't 1928 Great?
Exterior
Valley Green body color covers laser straight panels, and a
contrasting coat of Dawn Gray makes up the fenders and running
boards. Straw painted steel spoked wheels give a great contrast to
the corresponding colors. New Firestone rubber all around is seen.
To a writer that poses by night as a woodworker, the stake bodied
sides add height for the cargo area, and a really nicely pulled off
bed re-planking with ultra-varnished white oak, and black steel
separators make this truck. A shout out to the dark Ford grille,
with flying goose radiator cap, covered spare tire, and like new
soft top.
Interior
A brown faux leather looking vinyl bench floats in a rubber floor
sea, screaming utilitarian and get me dirty! A very simple "mask"
like instrument cluster in chrome, reminds me of the Edvard Munch
Painting "The Scream", sits in the middle of a Valley Green very
simple dash. An original steering wheel, long gearshift and
handbrake is all she wrote for the interior.
Drivetrain
The Iron inline 4-cylinder engine number ?726531? is a 4.11:1
Compression ratio and has an output of 40hp is connected to a
3-speed manual plus reverse transmission. Zenith provides the fuel
air mixture to the power plant.
Undercarriage
Just like the upside, pristine, with black un-corroded un-rusted
bliss. Simplicity is the word for this underside environment, and
it's all there in working condition.
A frame-off restoration, beautifully choreographed with a fine
mixture of color, attention to detail, and a knowledge of
authenticity. An excellent condition truck that can be used for eye
catching advertising, or promotion, and is in true working order.
Not many trucks around as this nice of a Ford Model A Pickup, and
to think it's only 90 years young!
