1983 Zimmer Golden Spirit
If you want unique then you found it! This 1983 Zimmer Golden
Spirit has an awesome look that is completely different than any
other classic. In 1980 this was the look of luxury! Large swooping
fenders, chrome front horns, large chrome grill. When you saw that
coming down the road you knew there was someone special behind the
wheel. In fact, this classic once belonged to "The Killer" himself,
Jerry Lee Lewis and Jimmy Velvet. The car is coated in the original
Creme White with nice Rose striping. Other nice accents on the car
include the rear mounted spare and dual side mounted spare on both
the passengers and drivers side. All of the exterior electrical is
in great working condition with the large front headlights and
circle taillights. Fog lights are also in place in front of each
side mirror. The front and rear bumpers have a great shine just as
the rest of the chrome. The car rides around on nice spoke wheels
with the correct "Z" Zimmer centercaps.
Check out the following table to get a little bit of history about
the Zimmer: The Zimmer was a short-lived car company based out of
Syracuse, New York. The company was founded by Paul Zimmer in 1978
and went into bankruptcy after his death in 1988. In 1997, Art
Zimmer purchased the rights to the company and they continue to
make automobiles on a limited basis as of 2010. The premise for the
company's mission was to build neo-classic cars cars that embodied
the spirit and the looks of classic cars from the 20's and 30's but
were built in modern times with modern production and modern
luxury. The flagship model was the Golden spirit, which was
produced in the year 1983.
Engine and Engine Sources The engine for the 1983 Zimmer Golden
Spirit was a Ford Mustang V8. Engines and parts were sourced from
what was readily available in the marketplace and pieced together
to make the final Zimmer product. The engine on the '83 Zimmer is a
5.0 liter 320 horsepower engine with an automatic transmission.
Since the engine is taken directly from the Ford Mustang, service
and maintenance is easily handled by and Ford mechanic or Ford
dealership. The cars are designed to be daily drivers that can
handle long hauls and can be driven as you would any other car.
Luxury Features The 1983 Zimmer came with many luxury components
not found anywhere else. The seats are leather Recaro seats, gold
spoke signature wood steering wheels, and chrome wire wheels. To
reflect the cars of the Great Gatsby era the Zimmer has four
trumpet horns on the front of the car, German hand cut crystal
vases with flowers, and a hood ornament that is a gold-plated
bronze eagle. The car contains a vintage AM/FM radio, opera windows
and a luggage rack as well. The Zimmer is outfitted with plush
carpeting throughout the entire car, even in the trunk space.
Technical Specifications The '83 Zimmer is an 18 feet long car that
holds a 142" wheelbase. The total weight of the car without gas is
3700 pounds. All windows are tinted on the car with the side and
rear windows having a deeper tint than the front windows. All
Zimmers come with power windows, power locks, power brakes, power
steering, power antenna, tilt control on the steering wheel, cruise
control and four seats.
Under the hood of this classic is a smooth running 5 liter 302 V8.
On each side of the Black/Brushed air cleaner is the finned valve
covers. The engine compartment and under hood area is all painted
Black for a nice clean look. Backing this is the automatic
transmission that shifts with no issues. The car comes equip with
everything you could want including both a power steering and power
brake system. The entire drive train is out of a 1983 Mustang and
fits perfectly under the body.
Inside this classic you will find an all leather Beige interior
that continues with that theme of luxury. The high back Recaro
bucket seats are extremely comfortable and are separated by a nice
center console. On the console and dash you will find wood accents
that are in great condition. All of the gauges work as they should
as do all of the knobs/switches. The A/C system blows nice and cold
through vents inset into the dash. The Kenwood AM/FM/Cassette
player delivers a great sound and works with no problems.
This is one cool classic that you just rarely get to see. It is
incredibly unique and gets a ton of attention no matter where you
drive it. This unique classic could be yours for $31,000.00!!
