Vehicle Description
1968 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible
Imagine opening the door to your garage and revealing one of the
true classics of the late 1960's, but in full resto-mod dress.
Imagine that classic to be a Chevrolet Camaro, and imagine it was
its best year throughout the history of the car, widely thought to
be 1968. Last, imagine all the work has been done, and all you have
to do is get in and turn the key!
Let your imagination run wild with one of the nicest consignments
Classic Auto Mall has seen in its short, but storied history. This
1968 Camaro RS/LS was built for a very finicky customer by a
company called D&S Fabricators from Kenton, Delaware. Nothing
but the best for this build, and as consigner states was built to
drive and enjoy. Why don't you just imagine yourself behind the
wheel?
Exterior
Wrapped in nothing but awesomeness with the perfect paint job
making use of 2 tone 2012 Corvette Cyber Gray Metallic. A very
subtle stripe, just like the original model bands the front of the
car. And while we're there, gaze at the custom billet grille, with
matching hidden headlights. The quality of this build can be seen
right here, as there is literally perfect alignment with the
headlight covers, and the grille. Try that with an original 68!
Bringing up the rear are Fesler sequential taillights, and Billet
Specialty rims. A new convertible tops this car off. Oh, and did I
mention all stainless nuts and bolts were used in this build.
Interior
If I said the word Custom, it would perfectly describe the
interior, and it's all leather. Black leather to be exact with two
buckets draped with suede in the center framed by leather bolsters,
that flank a custom center console, also in black. A stainless
shifter, and 2 stainless lined cup holders, along with all the
power window controls are within easy reach of the pilot seat. Door
panels match this carry over motif, and show electric activated
locks, and custom shaped handles. Shiny Autometer gauges are
fronted by a rally style adjustable height steering wheel.
Drivetrain
As they say the sweetest meat is closest to the bone, and a pop of
the hood reveals an LS3 Stroked 427ci V8 sitting in a reworked
engine compartment painted satin to contrast the showroom shiny
mill. A Tremec 6-speed manual transmission is bolted to the back,
and underside reveals a Moser 9" differential. Speaking of the
underside, a picture of this should be in the dictionary with the
word pristine. A few highlights include 4-link suspension, a
Heidt's front clip, tubular A arms, coil over shocks, A McLeod
hydraulic clutch, 4-wheel disc brakes from Wilwood, and strapped on
for kicks, Vintage Air.
Now is your chance to drop in and take this awesome resto-mod for a
spin. Truly a meticulous build, no stone unturned, frame off
restoration/modification. Virtually a showroom 1968 that will be
taking prisoners, and turning heads, and inspiring imaginations, as
well as smoking much newer models, which everyone else has.
