Now Featured in our Denver showroom is this great example of a 1966
Pontiac GTO that has a perfect mix between classic looks and
performance! A full restoration and repaint was finished in 2003
and still looks nearly as good as it did the day it was completed.
The exterior color is a custom Chrysler Inferno red that gives a
deep shine. The body and undercarriage are very clean with no sign
of repairs being needed anytime soon. Matching the exterior is the
reupholstered Montero red interior that not only looks great but is
also very comfortable. The first glimpse of the drivetrain comes
right there in the factory option center console where the shifter
attached to the M-22 Rock Crusher 4-speed protrudes through. Hooked
up in front of the tough transmission is a monster of an engine.
Starting as a 400 block, it was bored and stroked out to 467 cubic
inch V8 and sounds extraordinarily healthy when it comes to life!
The rotating assembly includes; Eagle rods, Ross pistons, and Pro
Racing bearings. Roller rocker arms and a Nostalgic roller cam
provide a healthy lope that hits you in your chest when standing
next to it. The top end includes a set of Edelbrock Performer RPM
heads and paired with the headers provides excellent flow required
for such an engine. Right on top is the always sought-after
Tri-Power Rochester carb set up that was recently rebuilt, tuned,
and jetted bringing plenty of air flow and fuel to the mix. Keeping
this built up engine at the correct temperature is a Be Cool
aluminum radiator equipped with an electric fan in addition to the
mechanical one attached to the engine to eliminate any potential
issues. As you open the door, slide in the driver's seat, and fire
it up any car guy can't help but feel the hairs on the back of
their neck stand up from the thump that this car produces. The
drive quality matches the rest of the car well with a smooth ride
and a bite to back up that bark. It is very tame and mellow when
just cruising, but as soon as you roll into the throttle it comes
alive! As you roll through the corners, you will be impressed with
how well this classic muscle car handles thanks to the handling
package that is equipped including upgraded springs, shocks, and a
stabilizer bar. Bringing this car back to a stop quickly and safely
is a set of power disc brakes up front. This car has been well
sorted and very well maintained over the years and is an excellent
option for someone looking for a turnkey classic muscle car that is
ready to be driven and what better muscle car to pick than the very
first and arguably most iconic of them all, the GTO. Recently
changed parts include; a new clutch, front rotors, starter,
battery, rear shocks, brake vacuum pump, and ignition switch. Full
PHS documentation included with the sale of this car! This vehicle
is located in our Denver showroom. You can view this 1966 Pontiac
