For Sale: 1964 Ford Galaxie in Volo, Illinois

Vehicle Description

This is an outstanding example of a southern, quality collector car. Dialed in and detailed. I bought this car because of it's condition, colors and features. I bought it from a respected Ford collector in North Carolina, he owns a Ford dealership. His cars are always impressive. That was 3 years ago, we sold it immediately to a good customer of ours. He appreciates quality. He took this already outstanding car and brought it back even better!

EXTERIOR: This car certainly is striking. The body, paint and chrome are superior quality. Original Georgia car, then North Carolina. The body is extremely clean. All along the bottoms, it's dry factory metal. The rubber flaps over the weep holes are in place. It's laser straight, not a ripple. The body gaps are like a new Lexus. There's not a single bubble or signs of body work anywhere. Has optional fender skirts. The original Rangoon red is laid out real nice and polished to a very high gloss. The trim really brings this car to another level. Everyyone rechromes their bumpers but this car has had every single piece either replaced or restored. Upfront the grill has been polished and detailed, bumper, bumper gaurds and spears on top of fenders and hood are rechromed. Emblems are mint. Stainless moldings down the sides are pristine, even the frosted center strips. Stainless around the windows and roof are professionally polished. Door handles, correct antenna look new. The deluxe mirrors are pristine, they are really beautiful. In back the anodized trim is polished and detailed. Bumper and gaurds are rechromed. The wheels have been upgraded to 15 inch and they have R code 427 hubcaps with the spinners. I recently found a set of these on eBay for $1,200, they're very desirable. The rims are painted black, the owner even has gold crown valve stem caps. Tires are radial. The glass is all real nice, rubber gaskets are soft. The window seals on top the doors have been replaced. Door jambs are perfectly clean metal with a glossy coat of red paint. The sill plates are brightly polished, weatherstrips replaced.

INTERIOR: The interior is gorgeous too, everything is spotlessly clean. The XL includes bucket seats and console. Carpet is new bright red with matching embroidered floor mats. Correct upholstery is new with the chrome piping and medallion. Carpet and seat covers are easy, it's all the other stuff that separates a nice car from one that is exceptional. This one is exceptional. I'm looking at the console right now it looks brand new. The chrome and the silver between the chrome ribs is pristine. Even inside the armrest looks new, the screws look new! The door panels are excellent, the brushed stainless inserts are mint (cool door handles too). The white headliner is mint. The dash area is detailed. The instruments, knobs, radio, air conditioning all sparkle. Nothing cracked, cut or damaged. The visors, mirror, rear the package tray XL emblem in the middle of the big chrome speaker are all excellent. In the glove box it has the owner's manual, service specifications and a high performance equipment owner's manual. It even has the paper starting instruction procedure on the visor. Interior lights work.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The engine compartment is beautiful. It has a lot more to offer then just good looks. The big 390 motor was rebuilt and it was also enhanced with some really rare parts by the Ford dealer collector. It has factory Ford aluminum intake and factory cast iron headers. The motor runs strong, at least 375 horsepower. It was also upgraded with a newer Holley carb with electric choke. Dressed up with chrome performance style air cleaner and valve covers with the appropriate stickers. The bay has been painted a smooth gloss black. All the components look restored and orderly. The generator was rebuilt, plug wires are reproduction, hoses and clamps are reproduction. Bottom side of the hood is painted gloss red, has new insullation. The latches are cadium plated. This is a factory air conditioned car, the system is completely intact. All the wiring is run neatly, the nuts and bolts are not painted over.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: The huge trunk compartment has dry clean metal with its factory red paint. New insulated plaid liner. The jack and spare rim have been restored, the tire is an original and it's all mounted properly. There's also a pile of shop manuals and literature that's included.

UNDERSIDE: Absolutely rust free original metal. The floors, inner rockers, lower 1/4s are spotless. The seams, spotwelds, weep holes are all clean. Frame and chassis is clean metal. Shocks, brake lines, fuel tank were replaced. The dual exhaust is neatly bent and has Flowmaster mufflers. E-brake cables are hooked up.

I can't use the word perfect but I will defend the statement that this is one of the nicest 64 Galaxies around. Condition speaks for itself, red over red is gorgeous and the accessories are awesome!
