Vehicle Description
This is no wanna be kit car. This is a high performance, high tech
road and track ready sports car! Built in 2010, it has only 605
miles total. It's a Factory Five recreation of the priceless Shelby
Daytona. Built originally by Caroll Shelby, only 6 were ever made.
This car made Shelby the first American builder to ever win a world
sportscar championship title, typically dominated by Ferrari. This
recreation is very faithful to the appearance of the original.
EXTERIOR: Very authentic to the original's shape, dimensions and
features. Finished in signature Shelby colors- Wimbledon white with
blue racing stripes. Vintage decals and race #s add to it's race
heritage. Upfront it features a flip forward front end with
aerodynamic covered headlights, massive air intake, scoops and
bulge just like the original. Also like the original it features
plexiglass wind deflectors, sliding side windows and air scoops.
The rear hatch window is Lexan. In back it features authentic
dovetail design, round taillights, external battery terminals and
air outlets. Just like the original it uses a pop up racing style
aluminum gas cap. The wheels are authentic style with true knock
off spinners. 15 inch with BFG tires, extra wide in back.
INTERIOR: Just like sitting in the cockpit of a race car, well
there's one exception- it has air conditioning vents! The seats are
leather wrapped racing style buckets designed to hold you firmly in
place. If that is not enough the Simpson racing harnesses do the
job. It's got a full tubular roll cage that does not get in the way
all. It's fully carpeted front and back, headliner is cushioned
cloth. The dash has all the easy to read gauges you would expect to
find, there is also a battery shut off switch. The Shelby style
wood and aluminum spoke steering wheel is a nice touch. The 5-speed
trans is easy to shift through the years and it has a nice Cobra
shifter handle. There is also an emergency brake, racing style
pedals and a fire extinguisher. It actually is easy to see out, the
big window and rear view mirror are unobstructed.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The powerplant is a bored and stroked 427
starting with a 351 Windser block. It has aluminum water pump,
intake, heads and Trick Flow valve covers. A huge Holley carb
delivers the fuel, has electronic ignition and long tube headers
feed the side exhaust. Has remote oil filter for easy access. The
motor is kept cool with a big aluminum radiator, electric fan,
stainless hoses and there is an overflow bottle. The air enters in
the front, passes through the radiator and the aluminum shroud
effectively exits the hot air out before reaching the motor. The
front of the motor uses serpentine belt and pulley system, new
alternator and a Vintage Air a/c system. It also has heat.
UNDERSIDE: Holy cow, this is the real deal. Look at all the high
end features. Tubular chassis, independent front and rear
suspension, forced air cooled brakes etc. The structure is very
substantial using big fat tubes in the middle that connect to a
spider web of square and round tube supports, many you can't see.
The chassis has been painted blue. The floors, firewall, wheel
wells and more are filled in with light weight aluminum. The front
suspension has tubular control arms with coil over adjustable
shocks. The disc brakes have air ducts from front scoops directly
to the rotors. The rack & pinion steering is very responsive. In
back it also has independent suspension with tubular control arms,
adjustable coil over shocks and a horizontal shock dampener for
better handling. The rear end center section is aluminum. The
bottom of the motor and trans is spotless. Has custom oil pan, high
torque starter, heavy duty scatter shield and a Tremec 5-speed
trans. There is a fuel cell. Underneath this car is impressive.
This car does not weigh much. It is a blast to drive. The sound,
handling, acceleration are awesome. Like an extreme adult version
of a go-cart. And everything is new. Not 605 miles since restored,
605 miles since it was created!
