The Mopar E-body platform has been popular since it was new.
Bringing in a smaller, sportier look than most previous Mopar
performance cars, the Challenger and 'Cuda were an instant hit!
Though all years of the 'Cuda are sought after, it is without a
doubt, the 1971 year-model that seems to be the most sought after
by collectors and enthusiasts. Why? Well it starts with the fact
that less than 6,000 1971 'Cuda coupes were produced, compare that
with the nearly 17,000 1970 'Cuda coupes that left the factory and
you can start to see why you just never see the '71's pop up for
sale, and why they bring a premium. This particular 1971 'Cuda is
not only special as it was originally equipped with a 383 and an
automatic transmission, which makes it one of 1/168 produced as
such in 1971, but it also features a very unique set of options
including factory A/C and a bench seat. Here's a complete breakdown
of the fender tag:

This 'Cuda has been repainted in its original B5 Blue which shines
and shows very well. This is a nice paint job! It has some typical
driver imperfections, but the exterior of this car is very
straight. Additionally, this car is equipped with color-matched
steel wheels and dog dish hubcaps. The added billboard decal adds
an iconic look to this car. Like most Mopars of this era, this
'Cuda has had some common problem areas replaced, during the
restoration, the car received new quarters and a trunk pan in
it.
Under the sleek 'Cuda hood sits a period correct 383 V8. Though
this is not the original engine, it is correct for a '71 model
year
as it wears a 10/12/70 casting date and the correct 2468130-1
casting number. Visually, someone went to great lengths to make
this engine bay look as authentic as possible. The correct air
filter and lettering are present as well as the factory A/C unit,
and if you look closely, you'll see a real authentic '71 Cruise
control system from Chrysler that was added after the car was
built. Bolted to the engine is a 727 Torqueflite that sends power
to a Dana 60.
Open the door, and you'll be greeted with nothing but more blue! It
is safe to say that the original owner had a specific vision. The
door panels, dash, seats, carpet, and headliner are all blue. If
you like blue, this is the car for you! The original radio has been
replaced with a JVC cassette deck, and the gauges have been
replaced with modern gauges that fit in the Ralleye gauge spots.
Aside from the blue interior being an attractive combination with
the blue paint, it is also very clean and complete with lots of
nice original parts. The interior has minimal wear and
imperfections throughout, with the only noticeable wear on touch
items such as the steering wheel and various switches.
All in all, this is a nice 'Cuda that is sure to turn heads
anywhere you go! To make it better, it features some very rare and
desirable options. If you're looking for a high-quality,
high-powered, high-impact weekend Mopar, this may be the end of
your search!
