1936 Dodge LE31 Truck - Ever since the beginning of its history in 1914, Dodge has offered light truck models. For the first few years, these were based largely on the existing passenger cars, but eventually gained their own chassis and body designs as the market matured. Light- and medium-duty models were offered first, then a heavy-duty range was added during the 1930s and 1940s. The Warren Truck Assembly plant in Michigan, just north of Detroit, was opened in 1938, and Dodge trucks have been made there ever since. Dodge made 6 different 1 1/2-ton models in 1936, with GVw ratings from 9,500 lbs. to 13,500 lbs. and engines ranging from 201 cu. in (70 hp) to 242 cu. in (85 hp). The LE model was the lightest of these, barely larger than a typical 1-ton.
This beautiful classic Dodge is ready for all occasions! This Dodge LE31 was treated to a recent cosmetic restoration and shows very well. The glossy blue and black paint is accented nicely with cream bumpers, grill and rims. The interior was repainted at the same time as the exterior and the original seats were recovered in black vinyl with blue piping. The glass and chrome are all in great shape. All 6 tires have plenty of tread but they do show some dry rot on the sides. The bed is made up of wood slats as are the removable stake bed sides. It is well known that a classic vehicle with its original engine (aka "numbers matching") is always a tier higher in collectibility and value. Not only does this 82 year old classic feature its original engine but even the starter and alternator are present and working perfectly. We recently tuned the carburetor and this truck now starts, drives, and shifts great. This is a great classic for any collection and is priced to sell!
