Garage Kept Motors)
1964 Dodge Dart 270 Wagon
Garage Kept Motors is pleased to offer this cool and super rare
Dart Wagon. The current owner has preserved this wagon and made it
his own. The original motor has been replaced by a stedfast 318ci
V8, rebuilt and ready to roll. Speaking of rolling, the rear window
mechanically rolls down, offering plenty of storage and/or
tailgating in the back. The chronological list of work done to
bring this vintage Dodge back is impressive, as are the distinctive
looks of a model rarely seen anymore. The work includes items
easily visible in the more than 150 high-resolution photographs of
this car on GarageKeptMotors, as well as less visible, but
extensive upgrades to the car's internals.
From 2010 to 2011, The car received an 8.75 A-Body Mopar rear end;
new brake hardware; new wheel cylinders; turned brake drums; new
polyurethane leaf-spring bushings; new rear air shocks, lines and
valve; installation of a shortened drive shaft with new universal
joints; new Cooper 5/8-inch whitewall tires; and all-new brake
lines.The 318 V8 was installed with Summit chrome hardware kit;
Summit braided hoses and ends; Summit chrome fuel pump; new timing
chain set; Spitfire custom A body headers; Thrust chambered
mufflers part of a 2 1/4-inch dual-exhaust system; 190-degree
thermostat with chrome housing; new electronic distributor; Summit
chrome high-performance coil; 8mm red sparkplug wires; new
carburetor heat shield and spacer; new dual oil filters;
custom-made high pressure/high temperature oil lines; and a new
aluminum radiator. A 1969 727 TF transmission was rebuilt,
upgraded, and installed by a veteran Chrysler mechanic, that
included Kevlar clutches; "Hemi" 4.8-to-1 kick-down lever; braided
stainless kick-down and throttle cables; TCI manual/auto valve
body; B&M 2200 stall and SFI-approved flex plate; ARP
torque-converter bolts, transmission cooler, and new lines; B&M
shifter cable and more. The dash received a new three-gauge cluster
and billet specialty steering wheel, upgraded upholstery, and a
custom audio system with cargo-area-mounted subwoofers (fused
amplifier is installed beneath the rear seat). On the outside,
vintage aftermarket hubcaps with "bullets" were added. In 2012, the
car's exterior was professionally renewed. Its exterior sheet metal
was completely sanded, primed, sealed, and painted with three coats
of white and three coats of urethane clear. Wheels were primed,
painted (silver), and clear-coated. All exterior chrome trim was
polished. New headlight bezels were sourced and installed.
This Dart Wagon is ready for the road, including heading for
cars-and-coffee shows unlikely to be displaying a comparable model.
So, the new owner better get ready to field questions and admiring
stares. Have you ever seen a roofline as cool as this?!?
