Vehicle Description
1962 Chrysler Newport Convertible
Wrapping a historic Golden Lion drivetrain in a tailored interior
and all but 18 feet of stylish sheetmetal, this incredible
Chrysler, HAS to be one of the coolest classics on the planet! In
fact, featuring an optimal mix of performance and opulent luxury,
with Jetson-like pushbutton technology, this baby will scream you
have arrived, and that's just with the top up!
For consignment this ultra-cool early 60's automobile, likes to
pretend you are truly the belle of the ball upon your arrival. This
pristine Newport could be called "in process" as there are finished
to a "T" aspect from an older restoration, and then there are areas
of unfinished business. Allow me to explain.
Exterior
A Sapphire Blue Poly repaint nicely done is in very nice condition.
Correct chrome bumpers, badging, and exterior brite work looks good
with no pitting or dents. Canted dual headlights reach out from the
front fenders. Wire wheels wrapped by wide white sidewalls all
around reside within clean restored tubs. Underside presents with
surface rust, and drivers side seat tub has been repaired. The top
is clean, fully operational, and shows no wear.
Interior
Blue vinyl covers the seats and appears to be original. There is
some ripping and staining seen on the front and rear benches. Blue
carpeting in good condition covers the floors. A space age dash is
truly the highlight of this car, with a stitched padded vinyl
boomerang style top, and blue metal bottom. Fronting of the driver
and crowned steering wheel is an awesome domed gauge housing that
is backed by a corresponding semicircular speedometer. Also, in
true space age style, automatic transmission, heating and airflow,
and radio are controlled by the push of a button. Other knobs are
surrounded by crownlike bezels in a metal field, which drips early
1960's design.
Drivetrain
The 361ci V8 has undergone some work on the carburetor, which has
been completely rebuilt. The push button 3-speed automatic, shifts
smoothly, and with the push of a button! Also seen underneath are
new fuel lines, and a consigner stated fuel tank that was flushed.
Power steering and power brakes are also noted.
Literally ready to drive away, and can do so smoothly, with a quick
start. Electronic convertible top working, and overall in good
condition. If you want perfection, the seats are the only frown
this writer would give to this car. Other than that, the only other
thing it needs is a home!
