Vehicle Description
This is a really slick 2 top T-bird that's been frame-off restored.
Stunning in black with contrasting white tops, two tone interior
and the wire hubcaps really make it.
EXTERIOR: Factory black, code A. For a 20 year old restoration It
has held up remarkably well. Stand next to the car and it's better
then new, up close you may find minor imperfections. I say it looks
better then new because the factory paint was never polished like a
mirror, you could read a newspaper in the reflection of this one.
The doors never fit this good when new. The body is straight and
fits nice. Same thing with the chrome and trim, from a few feet
away it sparkles like new. Up close you may find minor
imperfections. The correct (expensive) wire basket hubcaps really
class the car up. Radial tires give It a better ride. Windshield is
crystal clear. In back the exhaust is routed out through the bumper
like It is supposed to. It has both tops- very desirable. The
convertible is a genuine frame, not a cheap reproduction. Has a
contrasting white top. The hardtop is also done in white. Has a
smooth finish paint, the stainless trim is in excellent shape. Also
the white headliner has been replaced.
INTERIOR: it's in really nice shape inside to the seat has been
requested an upholstered the correct carpets been installed the
whole dash areas in really nice shape the turned metal trim is
really nice all the Chrome knobs in bezels Sparkle steering wheels
excellent the horn ring is not broken off like most of them are
door panels are very nice.
MOTOR COMPARTMENT: The engine compartment is really nice looking
and proper. It has the engine optionaldress up kit which includes
the aluminum finned valve covers, chrome air cleaner and oil filler
cap. The engine bay is smooth, clean metal that's been painted
black. The motor has been repainted. Everything else is proper and
clean. Has correct style hose clamps. Also has power brake booster
and ram air! That hood scoop is functional feeding fresh air right
into the 4 barrel carb.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Very neat and orderly. It's painted black, has a
rubber mat, cardboard side panels, jack and a spare.
UNDERSIDE: I havn't really talked about how solid this car is. Take
a look at the pictures under this car, the metal is smooth and dry.
Very solid car. The floors and frame are not patched, crunchy or
flaky. Nice smooth metal with a satin black finish. No thick
undercoat hiding anything. Everything looks proper. Suspension
bushings, brake lines, shocks, exhaust were replaced. Motor and
transmission are clean looking.
The 1955 T-bird was Ford's response to the Corvette. It featured a
ram air V-8, windows and luxury accessories were available. The
Corvette was pretty primitive with a 6 cylinder motor, snap in
windows and no available accessories. This T-bird is a great
example. Very solid core with a great looking restoration!
