After a redesign in 1973, the Mercury Marquis emerged with a more
squared-off appearance and new roofline. Federally mandated 5-mph
bumpers also made their debut. Power came from a 460 cu in (7.5L)
V8 which was the standard engine option starting in 1974. No matter
the engine choice in 1978, all Marquis models were equipped with a
3-speed C6 automatic transmission. The Mercury division's full-size
entry into the luxury vehicle market featured prominent chrome
bumpers, large rectangular grille, stylish body molding, rear wheel
skirts, and a spacious interior trimmed in leather. Power front
disc/rear drum brakes were standard, along with power steering and
A/C. This Marquis came with an optional vinyl half roof and has
since had a high quality paint job. It also rocks new Detroit Steel
wheels with fresh rubber on all four corners and an aftermarket
sunroof for when the clouds part ways. Other features include:
functional headlamp doors, wood trim accents, AM/FM radio, power
antenna, digital clock, locking glovebox, front seat armrests,
door-mounted ash trays, and a Midland CB radio just for fun! The
5-digit odometer reads "38250". After a redesign in 1973, the
