A dream for the collector or enthusiast

The 1965 Austin-Healey 3000 Mark III Phase II Roadster featured here is finished in its stunning factory correct color combination of British Racing Green over a wonderful black leather interior and matching black folding convertible top. This particular example was assembled in October 1964 and was purchased new in 1965 by a Doctor at Washington University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. In 1970 it was purchased by a young doctor who was performing her clinical studies at Washington University Hospital. Shortly after she purchased the Austin-Healey, she was stopped by another Doctor in the hospital parking lot. Stepping out of his new Porsche with a large grin he asked, "how do you like my car?" The young woman, astonished at his smug remark, replied "It's a nice Porsche." The man replied, "No, how do you like my Healey?  She had apparently purchased the car at the same dealership that the original owner traded his Healey in when he bought a new Irish Green Porsche 911 in 1970.  The young doctor would go on to own and maintain the vehicle until 2018. During her nearly 50 years of ownership, the Austin-Healey was lovingly maintained and her brother, a mechanical engineer, began a full restoration enlisting the help of the marque specialists at Healey Werks. Today, this 3000 Mark III presents in wonderful restored condition, displays only 52,238 miles and is powered by its numbers matching engine as confirmed by the accompanying British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate. We are proud to offer this stunning 1965 Austin-Healey 3000 Mark III Phase II Roadster to the most particular investor, collector or enthusiast who appreciates excellent condition and long-term ownership provenance. HISTORY OF THE AUSTIN-HEALEY 3000 MARK III PHASE II ROADSTER
The Austin-Healey was born from the Healey Hundred, first shown at the 1952 Earls Court Motor Show. British Motor Industry legend Sir Leonard Lord, soon convinced Healey that Austin should build the car and thus the Austin-Healey 100 was born. The Austin-Healey's design and appeal as a true British Sports Car, resulted in strong sales across the globe in the late 1950's and early 60's. Over time the design and drive train matured to the 6-cylinder Austin-Healey 3000, which was powered by a larger engine and featured more comfortable interior, improved braking, and suspension. The pinnacle of the Healey 3000 was introduced in February 1964 in the form of the 3000 Mark III (BJ8). The Mark III featured 150hp engine with a new camshaft design in addition to larger carburetors with improved flow. The Austin-Healey 3000 is the last of the great "big Healeys" and is considered by many enthusiasts to be best performing Austin-Healey ever built.
