An outstanding investment for any Porsche enthusiast! Porsche 356C Background: Beginning in 1948, the first production run of Porsche 356C 's were made and a true legend was born! With revisions and improvements year after year, the 356 gradually became more refined. In 1959, the Type 5 or T5 was introduced and became the first to wear the 356B designation. This variation stayed only until mid-1962 when another revision, the T6 design, added dual engine grills for additional ventilation, wider front hood, and adding fuel filler door to the passenger front fender. They stayed largely the same until 1964 when the 356C model carried out the final production of the Series ending in 1965. These special final series examples were fitted with 4-wheel disc brakes for the first time vastly improving braking capability, making them recognizable because of their a unique, flat hubcaps. Sadly for some, once truly perfected, it would make way to the larger, 6 cylinder 911 model, which was formally introduced in 1965 and shared Porsche showrooms for approximately one year. These gorgeous cars are loved by all and celebrate a lengthy history, available in both Coupe and Cabriolet forms, with some 76,000 built until production came to a close in April 1965. Porsche 356C Info: This wonderful, February production 1965 Porsche 356C Coupe is finished in Signal Red over Black Leatherette vinyl interior! Powered by its original, numbers matching 1600cc horizontally opposed 4-cylinder engine producing 75 horsepower mated to its original 4-speed manual transmission. Features include green-faced VDO gauges, push button Blaupunkt radio, key lock shift handle, front & rear bumper guards with correct rear exhaust pass-thru, round driver side outside mirror, 15 chrome wheels, padded dash, day/night rear view mirror, front seat lap belts, locking glove box, molded plastic trunk mat, windshield washer system, and 2-speed electric wipers! VIN: 222066 Engine #: P*717386* Engine Type: 85802- 616/15 Transmission #: 85889 Transmission Type: 741/2c Having survived with the former family owners since 1982, this numbers matching example came to the St. Louis Car Museum as a wonderful, garage kept example. Located in 1982 while residing in Southern California, Susan & David Hudzinski purchased this rust free Porsche to enjoy, and later brought with them when they relocated to Muskego, Wisconsin in 1984. Always garaged when not in use, they always made sure it was properly maintained as a suitable driver. Their most recent contributions were all new brakes in 2009, and new clutch kit in 2014. Less than 3,000 miles have been driven since 2014. Upon arrival to St. Louis, the older paint was definitely showing its age, as well as an interior with a replacement 2-tone interior. It was decided to cosmetically restore this example professionally, starting with a complete bare metal body with all window glass removed. The interior was also completely removed in anticipation of being replaced, along with the dash instrumentation. The car was then sent to Mid-America Auto Body for stripping and preparation of new base coat/ clear coat in Signal Red. This involved minimal body work, multiple primer coats, hours of meticulous block sanding, before final application of the top coat & several layers of clear coat. It would be color sanded and buffed to a stunning presentation, all of which was photo documented from start to finish. We had the front & rear window frames, door handles, front hood handle, body side moldings, interior ash tray, and front & rear lights bezels all chromed by St. Louis Plating. The horn grills, rear engine grills, antenna, and wiper arms were all replaced with new components provided through Stoddard Porsche. Additionally, all body gaskets, weather stripping, window gaskets & felts are all new. All window glass remains factory original Sekurit & Sigla brand. The interior was also fully refurbished with fresh components provided through Stoddard. This included correct German weave carpeting, all new seating upholstery & and front seat foam, door panels, rear panels, rear center panel, door arm rests, and more! The gauges were reinstalled with fresh gaskets, interior dome lights replaced for new, along with rear window defrost vents, rebuilt radio with new speakers, rubber floor mat & shift surround. The results are spectacular and speak for themselves! To finalize our contributions to this stunning 356C, both original Zenith NDIX 32 carburetors were completely rebuilt, engine oil/filter changed, new air filters; new ignition cap, rotor, condenser, and spark plugs and plug wires were replaced for new. It has been beautifully tuned and couldnt be more ready to fully enjoy once again! It comes with the original owners manual, Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, all factory body tags, correct jack, dated-coded spare (11/64), and lug wrench. Please feel free to call with additional questions! Wed also be very happy to show you this terrific Porsche 356C in person, so please feel to visit our showroom!
