Vehicle Description
1965 Plymouth Sport Fury Convertible
A ram-air intake is any intake design which uses the dynamic air
pressure created by vehicle motion to increase the static air
pressure inside of the intake manifold on an internal combustion
engine, thus allowing a greater massflow through the engine and
hence increasing engine power.
This 1965 Plymouth Sport Fury possesses both looker and cooker
qualities. A delicious Black c\Cherry exterior, and under the hood
a 440ci engine with cross ram induction. If this is not enough, put
the top down, but make sure your toupee is glued firmly down!
Exterior
Tasty Black Cherry paint covers the fairly straight steel panels on
this car. Two scoops also of Black Cherry house the air cleaners
that are attached to the cross ram. Chrome is equally as tasty,
showing in very nice condition, as the front grille, and badging.
An off-white convertible top, (let's call it cream) is in nice
condition and moves up and down electronically and flawlessly. A
dark boot cover snaps easily into place and remains very flexible.
Zenith 15" true knockoff wheels on all four corners and a
spare.
Interior
Black vinyl buckets with plenty of chrome trim around them reside
in a very clean interior. A rear bench emulates the buckets, and
all this sits in a dark brown field of door to door carpet. A black
over red dash in true stock design form from 1964 is fronted by an
original steering wheel. A center console in wood veneer and
polished aluminum, houses a Hurst ratchet shifter, and a clock, as
well as an aftermarket air/fuel mixture monitor. Door panels
present well, with all working cranks and door handles.
Drivetrain
This is the money shot, the coup de gras, the motherload, the
Chrysler 440ci V8 with the cross ram induction, topped by 2
Edelbrock 600 CFM Carbs. Within this mill is a Mopar Cam with 284
degree-484 lift, "purple cam" hydraulic lifters. All this fed by a
Holley electric fuel pump, fired by a Mopar electric distributor
and an MSD 6 AL spark control. Exhaling is provided by Hooker
headers, and dual exhaust with chromed flat tips.
A true piece of Mopar muscle car history, just gazing at the dual
cross ram system is enough to start a drool. This can definitely be
satisfied by stopping by Classic Auto Mall and take a bite out of
our parking lot with the rear tires of this early muscle.
