For Sale: 1987 Land Rover Defender in Hewlett, New York

Land Rover 90 Defender that has been converted with the engine & transmission from a 1993 European Specification Land Rover Discovery TDI. The upgraded powertrain comprises of a 200TDI Engine, 4 speed Automatic Transmission (ZF 4HP22) and an LT230 Transfer box. This conversion modernizes the performance of the Land Rover making it much more usable as a daily driver and delivering good gas mileage. The installation of the engine and transmission is extremely tidy using all standard Land Rover hoses and parts. The layout is the same as it was in the donor Land Rover Discovery.

The Land Rover was rebuilt 3 years ago with the body being removed from the chassis. There is no rust or welding on the Chassis which is all original, including the rear cross member. The bodywork is in good condition with no corrosion. It is painted Tank Green from the current Jeep vehicle range. The 1987 Land Rover 90 has the push-button style door handles and wind-up windows. The hard-top has been upgraded with Masai Panoramic windows on the sides and rear which give it better visibility inside and a more modern look from the outside.

The Defender currently has 101,500 miles (Chassis, body and axles), the donor Discovery had 75,000 miles on it (Engine, Transmission, Transfer box and steering box). It has completed about 5,000 miles since the engine was fitted.

The interior has 2 seats in the front and one, inward facing, bench seat in the rear. It has a Bluetooth receiver and amplifier so you can pair your phone and play music from it.

For summer use the Land Rover is also supplied with a Canvas roof and frame, half height front doors and a rear folding tailgate. The doors and tailgate are also painted in Tank Green. Unbolting the hard top and fitting the soft top takes about half a day and requires 2 people to lift the hard top off.

It is supplied with 2 sets of keys, the Handbook and some service history.
