In 1969, the Ford Mustang saw a restyle that gave the body 3.8
inches in length. This redesign added some more visual weight to
the vehicle, and gave it a slightly more aggressive look. 1969 was
also the year of introduction for the legendary Mustang Mach 1. But
as good as that legendary year was for the Ford Motor Company, no
one could have envisioned a Mustang featuring the components that
this 1969 convertible restomod does.
This '69 Mustang convertible may look mostly factory, but
underneath it is a far cry from original. Don't let the older paint
job fool you; time and money has been spent on this car in all of
the right places, where it counts the most!
Under the hood sits a Ford Performance 302 V8 with a serpentine
belt system and HEI producing 380 horsepower; that's more than
enough to get this pony going! Lifting the hood reveals a stunning
engine bay, with just enough chrome to catch your eye. The
transmission is a Ford C4, which was also brand new when the engine
was installed. Also new at that time was a Ford 9" rear end and an
upgrade to rack and pinion steering for much better handling. Rack
and pinion steering coupled with a set of coilover shocks on the
front, this Mustang is sure to out-handle any factory Mustang from
the era. The American Racing wheels give this car a sporty but
serious look.
Stepping inside this Mustang will make you forget about all the
serious performance upgrades...for a little while! The interior is
in very nice driver quality condition with a beautiful dashboard
and carpet. The steering wheel and woodgrain dash inserts look
almost new! With the exception of an aftermarket stereo, the inside
of this Mustang feels like 1969.
The paint is a vibrant blue that does have a few flaws on the front
end that are typical with a 15-20 year old paint job. However,
Despite the visual damage to the paint, the panel gaps are nearly
perfect and the convertible top is free of any damage. Essentially,
this Mustang is an affordable mild resto-mod under a skin of a
five-footer paint job. Another way to look at it is, this is the
'69 Mustang convertible that you can drive and enjoy and not worry
about a pop-up rain storm.
If you want a classic car that has been mildly modernized without
breaking the bank, this Mustang just might be the vehicle for you!
