Vehicle Description
Upon first glance, its enhanced fifth generation Mustang form is
easily recognizable, and yet still leaves the unmistakable
impression that it's no ordinary externally modded specimen of its
breed. It certainly isn't. This 2007 Ford Mustang Saleen/Parnelli
Jones Limited Edition offers a great array of expertly installed
details - inside, outside and under the hood. It's still as fresh
as can be, having logged just 5510 miles, and its collectability is
beyond question, as there were only 500 of its kind ever made of
which this is number 62.
Released to commemorate Parnelli Jones' 1970 SCCA Ford Mustang Boss
302 and featuring a whole host of modifications at the hands of
Saleen, this '07 wears a Grabber orange exterior with black
accenting stripes down its hood and along its sides - a color
scheme reserved solely for this special class of Pony. While 10
years would be enough time for the elements to extract their toll,
there are no such issues here - this car has been well protected
over time and offers the wet-looking shine to prove it, along with
a clean AutoCheck report to attest that it's been kept out of
harm's way. The scoop rising from its hood doesn't just provide
cosmetic punch - it's fully functional, as well, and takes its
place among the rest of Saleen's aftermarket handiwork, which
includes a race-inspired front air dam and headlight treatment, a
billet aluminum fuel door, hood pins, side skirts, rear window
slats, distinctive Saleen badging and a rear wing resting on the
deck lid that replicates the look of its '70 Parnelli Jones
counterpart.
Inside, there are plenty more distinctive touches to set this
Mustang apart from the crowd. The two-tone pattern of the front
buckets and rear bench seats is another styling cue reserved for
this limited edition and having seen only limited use, the
seating's black and orange leather surfaces are still at their
best, as is the center console situated between the buckets that
offers up a special edition manual shifter with badged billet knob.
Directly above, the signatures of both Parnelli Jones and Steve
Saleen grace the center of the dash panel, which also sports a
180mph speedometer and Saleen gauge pod in its instrument cluster.
There's a nice array of comfort and convenience options on board
here, including power windows and door locks, power seats, air
conditioning, cruise control and an AM/FM/CD stereo system that
also offer iPod connectivity. A Saleen-badged steering wheel sits
on a tilt column, while just below it you'll see a set of pedals
created specifically for the occasion.
5.0 liter engines have been strongly associated with Mustangs over
the generations - after all, they're the metric equivalent of the
302 this model commemorates - but the representative sitting inside
this showroom-fresh compartment features quite a number of upgrades
to enhance its output and elevate its status, including a higher
compression ratio, forged pistons and rods, ported aluminum heads
and a performance cam that combine to equip it with 400 horsepower
and 390 lb-ft of torque. It sounds great through its Saleen-tuned
2.5" exhaust and teams with a close ratio 5-speed manual
transmission and a 3.73 posi rear end that applies power to
pavement with surefootedness. Beefy sway bars in both front and
back pair with Saleen shocks and this Mustang's lowered stance to
make it a corner-carver par excellence, while 4-wheel power disc
brakes that include 14" slotted rotors provide outstanding stopping
ability. This singular Mustang tears up the asphalt on its set of
19" Saleen aluminum wheels with special edition center caps wrapped
with Pirelli P Zero tires.
Impeccably sharp and expertly configured in all respects, this 2007
Ford Mustang Saleen/Parnelli Jones Limited Edition is one very rare
