Nineteen seventy-two was the last year for these cars and this is
one of 6,422 examples made that year in Stuttgart, West Germany.
Dressed in its original blue paint, (code DB-903), this car has
been garage-kept and well-maintained and was owned by a Doctor in
Oklahoma City for a long period of time and his service records are
included. Its paint and trim are in very good order, as are the
glass panels, including the rear window with its electric defroster
grid. The car's lights, including the vertically stacked headlights
and multi-function taillights, are in great condition, too. The
car's bodywork is still straight and solid after all of these
years, the engine bay is very tidy, the battery looks new and the
wraparound chrome bumpers with rub strips still shine in the
sunlight. This car rolls on new whitewall tires, size 185/75R14 at
all four corners and each tire is mounted on a steel wheel topped
with a correct Mercedes body-colored wheel cover, which are all in
good order. Under the hood and behind that imposing grille is the
original 2.8L OHC inline six-cylinder motor (M130) with Bosch
mechanical fuel injection and it's backed by the original
four-speed automatic transmission with a 4.08:1 rear end. Driver
convenience features include air-conditioning, power steering,
power four-wheel disc brakes, floor shifter and power windows.
Inside is the original blue interior is in overall great condition
for original. The seats look good, the carpeting is in great shape,
the headliner's fine, as is the original two-spoke steering wheel.
The instrument panel with its VDO gauges and door liners are also
in great shape. Completing the interior is the correct factory and
operational Becker Europa AM/FM radio. Competition to this Benz in
1972 included AMC's Matador, BMW's 525, Buick's Skylark, Dodge's
Coronet, Mercury's Montego, Oldsmobile's Cutlass and Pontiac's Le
Mans. If you want a classic, German-engineered and built cruiser,
