Vehicle Description
For the vast majority of classic car enthusiasts, there are few
more pleasant sights than that of a mid-'50s Chevy. Their stout
bodies and roomy interiors are endlessly appealing and the array of
styling cues they exhibit are truly museum-worthy. This 1956
Chevrolet 210 is a fine representative of its manufacturer's
wizardry of that era and offers the very enticing added benefit of
substantial stroked power lurking just under its hood. With its
timeless looks and strong running condition, it's road-ready in its
present state and with some well-placed attention it could truly be
transformed into a show-stopper.
Just one quick look at this vintage Chevy and you'll want to hop
behind the wheel and get out on the road. Its two-tone red and
white paint scheme is a perennial favorite with the model and when
this '56 ventures out into the sunlight, the subtle metallic flakes
just below the surface give it some nice added detail. For the
better part of the last two decades, it hasn't seen the inside of a
paint booth, so while everything in sight is perfectly presentable,
a freshening of the paint job and some minor adjustments will take
things to an entirely new level. While the front and back bumpers
are in top form, factor in some attention to the front grille, hood
emblem and tail light casings and you'll equip this iconic car to
make its presence felt on the local car show circuit.
Climb inside and you'll be surrounded by a very sharp interior. The
two-toned red and white bench seats in both front and back tie in
nicely with the exterior color pattern and are in great condition
-there's plenty of padding underneath cloth surfaces that haven't
likely borne the weight of many passengers, judging from their
fresh, uncreased look. Between them is a contrasting black center
console that offers a couple of convenient cupholders, as well as a
perfect place to rest an elbow while on the road. Take your
position in the driver's seat and a Moon steering wheel featuring
flaked red paint is within easy reach and if you peer through it,
you'll see a generously sized Moon tachometer mounted on its column
and an assortment of very fresh-looking Dolphin gauges recessed
into the diamond shaped cluster panel in the dash. The trunk area
in back is downright expansive, offering generous luggage space for
weekend getaways even with the vertically mounted full-size spare
and relocated battery inside.
Like your classics with plenty of go power? This Chevy has you
covered. The 383 stroked V8 under the hood is a strong performer to
begin with, and it's carrying some top-tier performance components
to take its power game even further. There's an Edelbrock intake
and 4-barrel carb sitting just underneath its open element air
cleaner, and an MSD ignition has been added to maximize spark,
bringing this powerplant's output to a full 420 horsepower that
combines with enough torque to push you back in the seat when you
step into the throttle. It teams with a solid shifting TH350
3-speed automatic transmission and sounds great as it sings into a
pair of shorty headers leading into its dual exhaust. A nicely
sized aluminum radiator with an accompanying electric fan stands by
up front to keep temperatures within optimum range as this 210
cruises on its set of 15" Cragar wheels wrapped with Cooper Cobra
tires that place asphalt-grabbing 275s in back.
Whether you opt to log plenty of fun-filled miles in its current
solid state or put in some work to further expand its
possibilities, this 1956 Chevrolet 210 has an awful lot to offer.
