Gateway Classic Cars of Philadelphia presents this 1989 Chevrolet
Camaro IROC Z. The IROC Z model of the Chevrolet Camaro first made
its public appearance in 1985 as an add on option to the 1985
Camaro Z28 model. But its origin began long before that. IROC
stands for International Race of Champions which is an automobile
racing series like what NASCAR is. Started in 1974 with race
prepared Porsches the series switched to Camaros in 1975. The
Camaro continued as the car of choice for the IROC series until
1991. In 1985 Chevrolet licensed the IROC nameplate to use on
production Camaros. The result was one of the most popular Camaros
that Chevrolet had made in years. This Camaro is Red on the outside
and is complemented by a black leather interior. The exterior is as
it was on day one except for a set of chrome wheels that simulate
the factory alloys. The 5.7 ltr V8 with tuned port injection
performs very well and looks great under the hood. Equipped with
Air Conditioning, AM FM stereo with CD, power brakes and steering,
and power windows and locks this Camaro is a pleasure to drive. The
IROC Z was at the time of its release the ultimate Camaro. They
were then and still are very popular with Camaro enthusiasts. To
