Vehicle Description
1968 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe
A small highly maneuverable warship that typically escorted larger
armed fleets is the origin of the name Corvette. At this point, the
third generation Corvette accounts for the middle section of the
brand's story and, looking back, it's a remarkably appropriate car
to hold that place. With visible nods to both Chevrolet's heritage
and future, I give you this Stingray
Offered for sale is an original low mileage (54,500) chrome bumper
1968 Corvette Stingray which has undergone a complete on frame
restoration. According to the owner, the car is a matching numbers
example powered by a 327ci V8.
Exterior
Rally Red in excellent condition covers this straight paneled
consistent gap car. A T-top with the factory original vinyl pouches
comes with the car. Also seen are re-chromed factory fitted side
pipes, and 8-inch stock Corvette wheels wrapped with red stripe
radials. Consigner states that this was a frame that was free of
any accident damage, and the underside shows the meticulous
attention to detail during the restoration.
Interior
Completely new red vinyl seating with its true to Corvette form
chrome accents shows well under the T-top. The Corvette retains its
original and working AM/FM factory stereo with original dash and
console which includes the original 1968 fiber optic light
monitors. This 3 owner Vette has fully functional gauges, hidden
headlamps and wipers. It is a non-powered steering and brake
car.
Drivetrain
The 327ci 300 hp Holley 650 cfm carbureted engine and 4-speed
Muncie transmission will afford you to reach warp speed very
quickly. To bring you to a halt, new stainless brake calibers, disc
brake rotors, pads and brake lines were added. A new steel fuel
line connects the new steel fuel tank. As previously noted, the
frame is free of accident damage.
Recently the car was dyno-tuned for peak performance with oil
pressure between 55-60 lbs. The car presents itself as a
high-quality driver and priced reasonably given the restoration,
extensive documentation, and originality.
