For Sale: 1953 Chevrolet Corvette in Halton Hills, Ontario

Vehicle Description

1953 Chevrolet Corvette For Sale - Highly Collectible First Year of Americas Sports Car LMC is very proud to offer for sale this 1953 Chevrolet Corvette The Chevrolet Corvette was introduced in the GM Motorama exhibit in the 1953 New York Auto Show at the elegant Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in Manhattan. The two-seater was a project that started in 1951, led by legendary GM design chief Harley Earl. Earl's objective was to change Chevrolet's then stodgy image by capitalizing on an emerging interest in sports and performance cars. Named after the quick and agile World War II navy boats and called the "Dream Car," it was an instant hit that attracted huge crowds and generated enough interest to convince GM to promptly manufacture a production version. Heralded as America's one and only sports car, the first-generation Corvette came off the assembly line late in 1953 with few changes from its prototype and one very notable distinction for GM: it was the first mass-produced fiberglass automobile from a major manufacturer. Only 300 examples were built that first year and each featured Chevrolet's "Blue Flame" six-cylinder engine and Powerglide automatic transmission. The Harley Earl styling was clean and aerodynamic with flowing bodylines, a modest amount of chrome, and a signature wrap-around windshield. Every Corvette received a Polo White finish paired with a Sportsman Red interior that was set off by a white steering wheel, instrument panel, and trim accents. This gorgeous Corvette was restored by a Corvette specialist and for his own personal collection. As his personal '53 C1, it was restored to his exacting standards with great effort to maintain its complete correctness and authenticity. The car was built in late-November 1953 and is one of the first to have a press-molded front end as steel molds became available that month. The rear fender wells feature a 90-degree lip (ledge) and the front lower valance has an approximately 1-in. wide front fender well lip as a scant few cars did between chassis nos. 235-261. Correct EX 179 trunk hinges are fitted as well. The objective was to thoroughly dial in the factory-correct presentation and make this example the finest 1953 Corvette extant. The overall presentation is extremely authentic with correct markings throughout, proper factory finishes, and even correct paint thickness that reveals the fiberglass pattern beneath. This car was featured at the 50th Anniversary of the Corvette in Flint, Michigan, where the spare wheel housing was signed by all the surviving factory employees involved in building the car. Included is the factory owner's manual signed by Zora Arkus Duntov, two Corvette operators' manuals, ownership history as well as a serial numbered commemorative brick, from the Corvette assembly plant in Flint. Furthermore, along with the spare tire is a factory jack and pair of side curtains in their respective bags. This marks a unique opportunity to purchase a highly coveted and sought after true collector car. The first year of the famous Chevrolet Corvette. An true American icon. Having benefited from a very correct style frame off restoration with only test miles since completion. Additional Details: 1953 CHEVROLET CORVETTE -
