2018 Mercedes-AMG GT C Edition 50

Citing the car's "gorgeous lines, a stonking twin-turbo V8 engine, and loads of grip," and awarding it 5 stars and the rare "Editor's Choice" accolade,Car & Drivercalled the 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT C a "hard-core Porsche 911 fighter" and "an autobahn sledgehammer that rival(s) the world's greatest sports cars." Noted automobile reviewer, Csaba Csere, opined about the buying rationale for the GT C noting, "If you think the Porsche 911 is too pedestrian," adding that unlike the 911, the Mercedes AMG "snaps and crackles with visual firepower." He summarized: "AMG GTs are visually arresting, blindingly fast, and extraordinarily rewarding to drive. And, at least for now, they're even rarer than Ferraris."

Offered here is the quintessential expression of this extremely rare automobile, one of the first 50 of a total of 500 coupes produced as "Edition 50" cars (option code P97) celebrating the 50thanniversary of AMG's founding. Not merely a style statement, these 50 cars feature 57-millimeter-wider rear sidewalls to embrace larger tires and allow for a wider rear track. This example wears the special-edition-specific low-sheen designomatte-finish Graphite Grey Magno paint over pearl-and-black exclusive Nappa leather upholstery, cross-stitched by hand in diamond-pattern quilting with "Edition 50" embossing.AMG black-chrome accents appear throughout the cabin beneath a black DINAMICS microfiber roof liner.

The Mercedes-AMGcognoscenti-many of whom will no doubt be viewing this listing and already possess a commanding GT C understanding-know precisely how special and coveted this sports car is. The list of model-specific features, from vertical-slatted Panamericana grille to exclusive trim and badging, and not least of all, remarkable engineering and performance capabilities mark this as a historically significant model from the AMG factory in Affalterbach, Germany. This is the latest manifestation of Mercedes' sporting heritage, fully in keeping with the brand's legendary racing history. The GT C will be honored, valued, and praised for generations. That the automobile offered here displays fewer than 3,200 miles, and virtually no signs of use, ensures its next owner will have acquired an essentially brand-new supercar.

While hardly an all-encompassing list, here are a few more of the truly special aspects of this fine automobile: Power emanates from a four-liter, twin turbo, direct-injection V8 engine (this one hand-crafted and signed by AMG engine builder, Matthias Donis) delivering 550 horsepower and 502 foot-pounds of torque to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch auto-shift manual transmission with overdrive. The car is capable of below-3.5-second 0-60 acceleration. Its double-wishbone front-and-rear suspension (with swaybars), staggered-width 19- and 20-inch AMG-logo wheels shod in ultra-high-performance Michelin tires, active aerodynamic design (including a speed-deployed rear spoiler and a front splitter, together with fourteen vertical louvres on the front apron that open and close in less than a second to both increase stability and aid engine cooling), and AMG-logo red-caliper brake package all combine to deliver on-road or on-track performance that impressed the hard-to-impress Csaba Csere: "Overall handling is satisfying and inspires confidence," and "brake feel is excellent."

A full suite of entertainment and information technology (including 10-speaker Burmester Surround Sound system and full navigation with real-time traffic) is arrayed in a driver-oriented, beautifully detailed cockpit. Controls are logical and readily engaged. The steering wheel is wrapped in DINAMICA microfiber suede; both seats feature the full range of power adjustments. The driver can select from five driving modes-from individual to comfort to "race"-which adjust suspension stiffness, throttle response, shift programming, stability-control intervention, and even exhaust note (see below).Safety systems include blind-spot monitoring and lane-assist, curtain and knee airbags, and lap and shoulder belts... in silver, of course.

Not to be missed are the 135 still photographs as well as a short video of this GT C (worth viewing if only for the car's exhaust note) available on our main website: Garage Kept Motors. A current CarFax report is included there, too, along with the car's original window sticker, as well as photos of the OEM first-aid kit and vehicle-care products, all included in this sale. The car also has had a professional XPEL clear bra wrap ($5,000) to protect this awesome factory paint job.

We are proud and honored to offer this special sportscar and to have a small part in its history, as a new owner steps forward to play a much larger-and way more fun-role.
