Vehicle Description
Yes, this is a real GTO born with the extremely desirable tri-power
and a 4-speed! Documented by Pontiac Historical Service. It was
frame off restored.
EXTERIOR: It's color combination is gorgeous. The burgundy has
small metal flake that really glistens in the sun. I've owned a few
65 GTOs, these cars have big flat panels that are hard to get
straight. I look down the sides of this car and it's as straight as
a chalkboard. The paint looks wet, it has a clear coat finish
polished like glass. Up front the bumper is rechromed, grills and
headlight bezels are in excellent original condition. Same thing in
back- bumper is rechromed, tail light panel is very good original.
The stainless trim around the top and windows are new. Emblems,
mirror are new, wiper arms are polished. Has correct antenna. The
windshield has been replaced, new vinyl top. New set of correct
Rally 1 wheels on reproduction Wide Oval redlines.
INTERIOR: Great color against the burgundy exterior. They found an
original set of pearl white seats that have never been
reupholstered. Door panels and armrests were replaced. The white
metal was repainted. White headliner was replaced, original visors.
Carpet was replaced, has reproduction floormats. Dash area is mint.
Has the rally gauges including tachometer. The knobs, bezel, horn
ring are mint. Has original radio, under the dash is an FM adapter.
Interior light works. Very tidy inside this car, not cut up or beat
up or altered. It does have original seat belts in front.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It has a correct 1965 389 tri-power motor. The
engine was just rebuilt and balanced. Has a fresh coat of the
correct color. The carbs are restored and all function. When you
mash the pedal you will actually hear the carbs roar. Everything is
detailed. It has correct chrome valve covers, GM hoses and clamps,
spring clamp battery cables. All the components are clean and
proper. Under the hood is satin black and has the insullation,
hinges are painted raw metal gray.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Big clean trunk, all smooth clean metal. No
signs of any patches, 1/4 panels appear to be original. Has a good
coat of spatter finish paint. Under the trunk lid and the jamb is
painted gloss burgundy. Has new weatherstrip and decal.
UNDERSIDE: Underneath this car is restored. The body was off the
frame. All metal floors have a clean coT of satin black. The
chassis is gloss black. The front end was rebuilt- new ball joints,
bushings, shocks etc. Bottom of motor is still spotless. The Muncie
4-speed is spotless, new clutch. In back it has original 3.55 posi,
new shocks and springs. New fuel tank and lines. Brakes were
redone, new lines. E-brake is hooked up. Has Flowmaster exhaust
with crossover pipe.
3 dueces and a 4-speed, it's so cool they made a song about it!
This is a great example of one of the most desirable muscle cars of
all time!
