For Sale: 1976 Jeep CJ5 in Henderson, Nevada

Vehicle Description

304 V8 3-speed. Purchased as a diamond in the rough 12 years ago, put a lot of work into it while it stayed essentially a garage queen. I am moving and cannot take it, I would prefer not to put it in storage but I am not desperate to sell either. Will entertain fair, serious offers.

I have only logged maybe 3k miles on it since I purchased it, the rest of the time it was a project. A Jeep-nut friend of mine says that it is 95% complete, but I am out of time. There are a few things that need to get done but it is road/trail-ready as is.

Significant work done;

-Complete wiring harness front to back (Centech)

-HEI distributor. Replaced all of the original ignition system components

-New dash, guages, windshield, hood, gas tank, 5 Cooper STT Pro tires (with less than 500 miles on them),

-Paint (although there are spots where it wasnt prepped properly and has spiderweb cracks Chips exist where the hood rests on the windshield and where metal door latches contact body)

-Rhino liner

-Both driver an passenger side front drum brake assemblies were just rebuilt

-Steering column from Cherokee (I think), so is tilt/adjustable

-Original owner was a welder, did some custom work to it (i later had it reinforced); the front axle is not original and is wider than stock

There are smaller items of course (steering stabilizer, battery kill switch, etc etc) but those were the bigger ticket items.

Issues;

Tachometer is non operational. Either the temp gauge or sender is off; engine always reads hot (it's not. That was a fun one to diagnose). Linkage sometimes is difficult when switching from 4WD to 2 and vice versa. Spot leaking (not much, but some).

I don't care much for the new main gauge cluster. From the front it looks mostly the same as the original but is nowhere near the quality, as far as material goes. I still have the original gauge (the speedometer portion stopped working) and will include it in case some one can fix and re-install it. Otherwise the new one works fine (except for the temp gauge(?))

There is 1142 miles on the new gauge and I believe 97000 on the old one (I will update this listing after unearthing the gauge from storage), so the actual mileage may be a little less than 100k.
