Vehicle Description
1987 Monte Carlo SS Aero Coupe
Regarded as one of the most significant drivers in NASCAR history,
Dale Earnhardt won a total of 76 Winston Cup races over the course
of his career, including the 1998 Daytona 500. He also earned seven
NASCAR Winston Cup championships, tying for the most all-time with
Richard Petty. This feat, accomplished in 1994, was not equaled
again for 22 years until Jimmie Johnson in 2016. His aggressive
driving style earned him the nicknames "The Intimidator", "The Man
in Black", and "The Count of Monte Carlo". Also, his success at the
restrictor plate tracks of Daytona and Talladega earned him the
nickname, "Mr. Restrictor Plate".
This once mild mannered dark maroon metallic aero coupe has morphed
into a tribute to the "Intimidator" with a custom paint job, and
numerous advertising vinyl stickers, racing replica tires and
wheels, and a removable window net. A totally street legal car
paying tribute to someone whom is considered by many as one of the
greatest NASCAR drivers of all time.
Exterior
From 1982 through 1987, Earnhardt's sponsor Wrangler Jeans is shown
on this Monte Carlo. Yellow and Blue base coat, with various vinyl
stickers adorn the exterior of the car. A black radiator screen as
well as aero dark covers for the headlight indentations are seen on
the front of the car. Stock tail lights, and door hardware are seen
on the exterior as well. Disguised by the paint and iconic numeral
3 a removable "T" top works easily on and off. Some dry rotting of
weatherstripping is seen on the top seal of the roof.
Interior
A slightly faded crushed velour covers the front buckets, rear
bench, as well as door panels. Gray carpeting and front and rear
stock carpeted floor mats are seen covering the cockpit floor. A
gray headliner is a bit loose in back but is unmarred. The dash
presents in true 1980's square style, with analog gauges, and gray
vinyl mixing to create the look. Power options are abundant, and
include power steering, power brakes, cruise control, remote
mirrors, power door locks (although driver's door lock button needs
replaced), power trunk opener, and 6-way power seat. Factory air is
also installed with an AM/FM Stereo Cassette, clock and rear window
de-fogger.
Drivetrain
From the factory, a 5.0 Liter, 4-barrel carb, V8 High Output
engine, connects to an automatic transmission, which puts power to
the rear wheels, and a limited slip 3.73 :1 differential. Power
disc brakes are seen all around. Consigner states that this car
will take on and humiliate with ease the other Goodwrench cars,
because of the high output engine
