1951 Ford Deluxe
Why This Car Is Special
This is a real police car from the 1950s that has been used as a
show car ever since. It was used by the Shriners in the late 70s
and has retained the lights and sirens for show purposes.
Mechanical
Mechanically this Ford is far from stock, as it has been fitted
with a 351 Windsor running to a C4 automatic transmission that is
shifted on the column with a custom driveshaft to get all that
power to the rear end. This car will flat move! It has been
converted to a 12-volt system and the lights and sirens still
function, which is great for car shows and events. This car runs,
drives, stops and steers like it should and is ready to cruise and
enjoy.
Interior
The interior is very cool and still features the spotlights and CB
radio. The dash is a work of art on 1951 Fords with perforated
aluminum on the dash and steering wheel. This interior makes you
feel like you could be chasing down the Duke boys, with spare
bullets on the dash, lights and sirens just a flip of a switch away
and V8 power under the hood. Throw your prisoners in the back seat
and head on off to any car show, and you are sure to be the talk of
the town in this very special old Ford.
Exterior
The brown and Beige paint scheme has been topped off with Lonesome
Dove Texas Sherriff markings. Dual spotlights up front and dual
chrome exhaust tips out back make this Deluxe look cool, and sound
even cooler. The grill has built in red flashing lights that match
the light/siren combination mounted to the roof. Everywhere you
look on this car is some other feature to appreciate. The factory
trim with the subtle "Custom" text and the vintage style Ford V8
emblems on the fenders are great touches.
Conclusion
How often do you come across a real 1950s police car? This car is
