Vehicle Description
1972 TOYOTA LAND CRUISER FJ-40 (prod. date 5/72) has undergone 3
plus year, full body off restoration, with a focus of maintaining
the original look of the truck, while updating key features for
comfort and safety. We are the second owner and my father-in-law
was the first. The truck was taken all the way down to the frame,
which was media blasted and powder coated. It was then built up
from the frame with either entirely new, or completely rebuilt
original parts. Most of the chassis, mechanical, interior and rough
body work were performed by the owner over a period of 20 months.
The finish restoration was performed by BTB Products, in Henderson
Nevada. The finish work took over 18 months at a cost of over
$65,000. The finish bodywork and paint alone was performed at a
cost of more than $16,000. Have well over $100k into the vehicle
and all of the receipts. Below is a partial list of the features
and upgrades to the truck during the restoration process: • Axels
were opened, inspected, resealed and painted with heavy duty, heat
resistant paint; • Original four-wheel drum brakes were upgraded
with four-wheel disc brakes, paired with a Man-a-Fre brake booster
and polished master cylinder; all new brake lines; • Front steering
knuckles completely re-built; • New Spector Off Road 2' lift
suspension, including springs, greaseable shackles, u-bolts and
u-bolt skid plates; and shocks; • All tie rod ends and steering
components have been replaced or rebuilt; • Original F engine
completely rebuilt to .030 over; • Original 3 spd transmission was
opened, inspected and resealed; • Rebuilt drive shafts; • New
